Title: who knows the truth?

Review: Whether in fiction or real life, the players in the judicial system must determine truuth versus the red herring. Dr. Young offers a reason to consider another method to determine innocence or guilt and that is, too many unjust incarcerations. As a retired health care executive, I observed the construct by attorneys of hypertheticals which lead to destruction of people's lives, who were innocent. honest, ethical effort to find the truth starts with honest, ethical people using every method available to sort through lies and deceptions. This book offers just such a process in a very understandable and persuasive manner. A must read for Judges to bring integrity to the courtroom process.

Review: Thus is one of the best books I’ve read on how bad detective and medical examiner work can get when in powerful positions. No wonder jails are full of innocent individuals. The author has written a very through text on how damaging the Sherlock Effect really is, and brought to light the reality of the kludgeiness on the justice system. A must read for all.

Title: This book was needed Yesterday...Pass it on to many

Review: I had the pleasure of reading this book before it came out and having a Paralegal background and working in Criminal Law, this book should have been written yesterday. Dr. Young does a wonderful job taking his reader through the issues while starting off with an actual case about Deterryon Kelly. I do not want to ruin the book for you...but, to but it bluntly, Dr. Young see's a great many people in jail on bad evidence and poor Forensic Science. We may be able to thank Hollywood for their long love of telling crime stories and giving us CSI labs that can spit out perfect data in an hour. We are hoodwinked. Every Lawyer should read this book, every Congressman should be informed and new laws should be established and every doctor should read this book, if for no other reason if they simply implemented some of the sound logic and reasoning that Dr. Young gives, it may also help the lawsuit issue and malpractice problem in addition to removing less people from the prison that do not belong there.
Yet, I draw your attention to page 67 and this statement "stressing how important it is that medical examiners and forensic pathologists remain independent of political influences from other agencies." The intent may be good, but the reality is different. Rank-and-file medical examiners are civil servants with little political power and who are heavily affected by the powers-that-be, regardless of any desire to be independent from those political influences....." I worked in a Hospital setting for three years while going through Paralegal school. I have witnessed conversations with coroners, doctors and police and all I can say is....HE IS DEAD ON.

Review: After having read Dr. Young's book, The Sherlock Effect, I cannot see a film, watch a TV mysteries series or read a book without looking for The Sherlock Effect. I have even seen it in news stories. I've had to re-think my own judgement to make sure I'm not trying to prove my point just because that's the way I want it to come out. I can't help but wonder how many people have suffered loss of freedom, their careers and their finances because they were prejudged to be guilty and the evidence was designed to make the case. I hope the revelations in this book stimulate us to seek a more just process in seeking the truth. Thank you Dr.Young for bringing this to our attention.
