Review: I adore Kari’s books and words of wisdom. This is my third book of hers that I have read and it certainly is a favorite. I love her down to earth, relatable tone that feels like reading words from a friend. As a mom’s bible study leader, I read this and immediately wanted to share this with the group. It is full of advice that every mom should read. Thank you Kari for another beautifully written, Christ-centered book!

Review: As a licensed counselor, Kari is one of my best go-to resources when it comes to parenting 'teen and 'tween girls. I've used her articles for moms in my mother-daughter retreats. I've recommended her other books to clients. And, I shared her wisdom with my own daughter, as she walked through her adolescent and 'teen years. As mamas, it's important to have tools in our hands to help us navigate the roller coaster world we find ourselves in during the teen season. And, it's important that we do our own work.

Now, in her 4th book, Kari raises the important question, "What if taking care of yourself was the first step to helping your family thrive?"

Our personal wellness, as moms, is essential. We can't give from an empty cup, and if we're not okay, we have less to give. We have to take care of ourselves first.

As Kari shares, "Mothers are humans too. We require love, compassion, rest, and renewal. Taking care of our needs strengthens us and equips us for the road ahead."

In More Than a Mom, Kari does just that. She shares real, easy, and powerful strategies to move forward. She writes, "You can take your kids only as far as you’ve come–and since their strength builds on your strength, you must take time to focus on you."

Moms, do yourself, (and your family) a favor, and make your wellness a priority. We were never meant to do it alone!

Review: I wish this book would have been available 20 years ago! After reading just the first few pages, I realized qualities about myself that I had not recognized before. Kari speaks to the reader in such a compassionate way that is relatable to moms of children any age and in any season of life. I, too, had fallen into the trap of having an impossible image in my mind of what a mom should be. Kari reminds us that wonderful moms don’t have to be perfect and in fact, shouldn’t be. I’ll be reading this book again because she lifts the reader up and reminds them of how valued they are even when they may not feel that way. Read this book and you will feel inspired and treasured just the way you are.

This is now my go-to gift for every new mom I know so that they will start their motherhood journey knowing what it's going to take to finish the race. In today's too-busy world, Kari reminds us that you can't give to others from your own emptiness. This is a book you will return to again and again, as it's filled with practical advice that will speak to you in any season of life. It's like having a good friend cheering you on and reminding you that you are not alone. I can't recommend this book enough!

Review: I literally could not put this book down! The information Kari shares with Moms in this book is so valuable. I felt like Kari knew exactly where I was and what I needed to hear in order to continue to be the Mom God has called me to be. She gives so many practical tools that I think every Mom could benefit from. I am so thankful to Kari for allowing God to use her to speak to Moms like she does. God has used her greatly to encourage me through this book.

Review: I guess this is likely my mistake by not researching the author, but I didn't realize I was going to be reading a book that references God (the Christian one...) so often! In the introduction alone, the author has referenced her God about 30 times. As an agnostic, I found this book incredibly unrelatable and difficult to see past the preachiness (is that a word?) of it all.
Maybe next time, mention the Christian nature of the book on the cover so readers aren't caught off guard. I thought this book was going to be about true health and wellness for mothers, but it seems to be more about having a good relationship with God...
Lesson learned, I guess...
