Review: I regret buying this book. It's not bad, it's just very beginner stuff. I wish I had understood that before I bought it. - However, if you have no experience at all with sewing this might be a good book for you. Many of the projects are for things a young parent may want. A few have a wider appeal. The directions are clear, and broken down to baby steps.

Review: I was so excited when this book arrived in the mail! I love everything about it. I love that it has 30 simple and perfect projects that I am so excited to make. All of the projects are practical, well designed, super cute, and simple! They are perfect projects for a beginner seamstress, which I am. I have never been a good seamstress and have always ending a sewing project frustrated. But yesterday, using Katie's book, well thought out instructions, and detailed step-by-step photographs, I finished a project from this book and actually felt good about it! I felt accomplished and like I had been bit by the "sewing bug!" I can't wait to try more projects in Katie's book! I am so excited about this book because I have always wanted to be a better seamstress and this book is already helping build my sewing confidence. Katie starts her book with a section about sewing in general, which answered all my questions and was very helpful to me.

I also love the design and layout of this book. Everything is very professional and crisp looking. The layout is very classy while also being very functional.

Thanks to Katie for an incredible sewing book that is building my confidence in sewing! I can't wait to try more projects from this book and would definitely recommend this book to any seamstress, beginner or not. Very classy and well done!

Review: I was a beginning sewer not long ago, but I have gotten really into it and have progressed a lot over the last several months. I got this when I was first starting and clueless, and I found it to be pretty helpful in guiding some basic projects- which turned out well- but I had it in e-book format and was annoyed with how frequently I had to reference definitions of words used in the instructions by flipping back to the first chapter. I also had to google a couple of things not explained at all because of my completely inexperienced status. I feel like it would be good if I were to have picked it up at this point in my development as a sewer, but now I feel like these projects are too simple for what I would like to do. I did make a couple of great gifts from this book when just starting out, though- so have to give adequate credit for that!

Review: Love this book! I've never sewn in my life, but wanted to try something crafty. After using Google/You Tube to try a few things, I decided it would be nice to have a beginner book to try out. Based on the good reviews I ordered this book and I am very pleased with it. The first section demonstrated simple but important techniques. The projects are laid out in a very well organized manner in the following sections. Each project has pictures for each and every step. I found four projects that I wanted to try, and was able to successfully complete them all! It gave me great confidence and pride!

More advanced users might find the projects too simple, but it is perfect for me. I liked it so much that I googled the author hoping she had a "Simple Sewing 2" book, but it doesn't appear that she does (I did come across a blog though.)

Review: This is an excellent primer for a beginning sewist. I purchased this book for a few beginning sewists in my family and it was well received. It is full of great photos and step-by-step instructions. The only issue is the lack of variety of projects that aren't square-based. After a few projects, I could tell that my amateur sewists were getting bored and were looking for more of a challenge, which is the difficulty of catering to a "beginner" crowd since you want to build confidence with simple projects. ALL the projects in the book are very simple so it really is for the novice-- someone who has never taken a class, watched a video, or touched a sewing machine. If you are beyond that level, this book will be too elementary.
