Review: Background

I live on 7 + acres with a lot of forest, woods and a pond. I heard about snakes in the area, and I wanted to be well versed with what was a danger and endemic to my region.

Organization

The book is well organized covering the United States by region. It shows a distribution map of what snakes live in the respective areas.

The details of the snakes, their behavior and toxicity/lethality are covered in a straightforward manner. I determined that there are two snakes that I have to look out for. Now, I'm better prepared for not only my backyard but wherever I travel.

Conclusion

Great easy reference. Especially, great is that I have the Kindle version that works on a Kindle Fire and Apple iPad.

Highly recommend.

Review: I was looking for a book that I could grab at a moment's notice at our family's land as there are quite a few snakes out there, and I wanted to be able to identify venomous versus non-venomous snakes rather quickly. This has a very simple table of contents and large clear pictures that are color (obviously) so you can easily identify snakes with it. I keep it just inside the door so we can make sure we identify snakes as quickly as possible. It has enough info to accurately identify snakes, but not too much that you would get lost if looking for info quickly. Great book.

Review: I originally ordered this for one of my friends who roams the high desert looking for Indian artifacts. Spring is snake time, so I thought this would come in handy for her. I was so impressed with it, I ordered one for myself also, since our yard backs up to a forest. It is a great informational guide.
