Review: After the huge improvement in writing from book one to two, I was hoping for a similar evolution here. Sadly it didn't happen, but, it was still an excellent book. There were several points that felt a bit dragged on, and I definitely hated the ending with the cliff hanger (overdone and cringe) it was a good book overall. Matt finally gets his stuff together, delegates well and starts to focus on himself. About dang time. The deaths felt impactful but not detrimental, which is a good thing for me. No need to go all GoT in here. Although it's beginning to get a bit stressful to read with the "always strapped for cash" thing happening with resources and mana. It's a fantasy book, I don't want my real life in it haha. Seriously it can be stressful, maybe it needs to be dialed back just a smidge. The boss fight was cool, even if it was a bit overdramatic. Personally I'd like to see Matt start smoking baddies rather than struggling with them, and it somehow working out. He was the first storm lord and first of his pantheon, that should have massive bonuses given how every other god is already joining an existing Pantheon... One that goes across the stars I guess? Kinda hard to believe that many humans made it into demi gods that quickly.

Title: I love Jez’s work but this was a tough read

Review: Jez is a great writer, I love the Underverse series and really enjoyed this Dungeon Core series. While the series has been solid so far, this book was dull at times especially when there were pages and pages devoted to meditation in multiple chapters. That and the constant need to describe the expansion of streets detail by detail which the readers know will just be expanded again in much the same way so it makes that portion tough to invest interest in. It’s the same with the meditation, each time it shows up it’s the same growth in slightly different ways and you know it’s just going to continue. Also the constant need to explain seemingly very arbitrary mathematics for the dungeon points loses interest fast. Either they have enough or they don’t. Hopefully the next book will he more character driven and less detail driven

Title: Great addition to a good serries.

Review: I am enjoying the serries and I really enjoyed the last book. Things I like include the following. This is a long book. You get a lot for your money. This book could have been broken into 2 separate books, so I think we get a lot of value. I like the humor. I like the way the mysteries of this universe are slowly revealed. The fight scenes are not bad. Sometimes the fight scenes in this type of book become repetitive. I like the idea of more strategy and forethought going into a battle. I like the idea of a variety of weapons and emulating classic age armies. The author did a lot to advance the skills and powers of the supporting cast, but it still seems like they are being held back while the MC is becoming supper powerful. He does a lot to grow and expand the dungeon but it seems this could go a lot faster. It seems the dungeon is being held back to keep power levels in check. The answer to this is more powerful enemies. Another small complaint is it is that the author keeps making inaccurate statements about firearms. I guess that is understandable when your from a country that completely restricts private ownership of firearms. Overall this is a good book in an enjoyable serries. I recommend it for people who like this genre.

Title: The books need balance.

Review: I like this series but the author needs to rebalance the "bad guys." All of the magic users of the dungeon have their magic restricted in very stupid ways. The cost of all spells are simply rediculuos. This includes the initial cost of spells and then the ongonging effects of those spells. So much so that even with a mana pool of 500 one spell will wipe out their mana in seconds. Seconds! All while mana regen takes hours or days? In a world where you can die at any time focusing on such a blatantly glass cannon class is the hieght of stupidity.
Yet does any of monsters or bad guys have such limitations. Hell no. And the fight at the end of the book in no way covers the glaring OPness of all magic users not of the dungeon.
Next, what the hell happened to Matt becoming lightning? Becoming a true being of lightning where his body radiated lightning and it took absolute concentration in order to suppress it so that he didn't hurt everyone around him? Matt goes from this in one book, to needing to actively train and concentrate to bring it out in the very next book?
Also, Matt was the first god in the world. First in his pantheon and first period. Yet, he gets his as handed to him by the number 5 in an undead pantheon? A younger god who had no problems accessing his nearly unlimited mana?
Do you see where I'm going with this? I love the story and writing stye but, please... learn to put some balance in the books. And don't take powers and abilities away from characters (especially the MC) just to make it easier to write a suspenseful book. It doesn't build suspense. It just pisses people off.

Title: good but a few holes

Review: I enjoyed this book. There was a decent amount of action and base building. My main issue is that the MC kept making bad choices. He spent a lot of time personally working on his dungeon and very little time getting stronger even though it was clear from past engagements that his personal strength was often the difference maker. All the tasks that he spent most of his time on were things that he could have delegated to the other 16 people that were already doing similar tasks. He and his leadership team also spent a bunch of resources on creature comforts and setting up and an economy when they had like a week to prepare to face an opposing army. Once again idiotic. Overall good, but a little too much stupidity.
