Review: Reading a novel written by Ninie Hammond is like tearing down a curving, dangerous mountain pass at 100 mph with no brakes....to finally slide in to a stop sideways, throwing dirt and gravel at the end and scream "Wow! What a ride!"

As the second book in The Knowing Trilogy, The Decieving does not disappoint. It was all I expected and more. I find myself feeling that Ninie's characters are personal friends because they are so well developed.

The storyline is deep and thought provoking, and the spiritual aspect of her books really makes you think about the reality of good and evil, and the dark powers that walk the earth.

If you've never read a Ninie Hammond book, you're in for a real treat. If you have read any of Ninie's books, you're still in for a treat!

Review: I thought the first book in this trilogy, The Knowing, could not be topped. I was wrong. It grabbed me from the start and did not let go. What a ride! I cared for the characters and I don't get that feeling from many authors. The last chapter left me wanting more and I will be anxiously waiting for the next installment. It would be in your best interest to read The Knowing first because this book does not rehash what has already been written. Right up my alley. I am not a fan of re-reading a book I have just read. If you are a fan of Koontz or King do yourself a favor and read this book. It will not disappoint.

Review: Some people 'feel it', some people wonder, but in this series, some people KNOW that there are demons at work in the world around us. Ms. Hammon has created a town where an evil demon has returned in search of the one person who KNEW how to defeat it... The story line is good, with enough suspense to keep you interested in what will come next! It is especially effective how the author bounces between characters/eras, as the reader must keep on reading to find out how something turned out from an earlier chapter/situation. In fact this book has made me break my bedtime rule of stopping at the end of a chapter...instead the night keeps getting later and I am still reading on to see how Becca, Andi, Jack, Daniel or Theresa will come though the latest demonically devised attack.
However, as a person who lives in the south, I am constantly and unpleasantly distracted by the silly way she has the black characters speaking, as it really detracts from the story.( Also, most black people have BROWN eyes, not black eyes!!). It almost feels as if the author has watched "Gone with the Wind" a few too many times and I can barely keep from rolling my eyes.
Despite this rather large issue, I am enjoying the story and look forward to an exciting conclusion!

Review: Once again, Ninie proves she has what it takes to stand toe to toe with the "big boys" and tell a spell binding story of good versus evil. Think there's no such thing as ultimate evil..think again. In The Deceiving, book 2 of a planned trilogy, the action alternates between 1985 and 2011. While I don't normally like flashbacks, this seems to be the best way to tell this story. 1985 was a summer the "heroes" can't quite remember and the same demon from 26 years ago is back and trying harder than ever to destroy them, before they can remember how to destroy him. Becca has been found, and as usual has a key role to play. If you haven't read the first book, The Knowing, you can still jump right in to the action on this one, each book can stand alone, but is part of a whole story yet to be played out. Having read them both, I can't wait for the final chapter!
I must confess, I was given an advance copy of this book in return for writing an honest review, which I have tried to do. So in all honesty, If you've never read a book by Ninie Hammon, you owe it to yourself to read one. If you like supernatural plots, with lots of action, twists and turns, a veritable roller coaster ride of emotions, you will become an avid fan of this author.

Title: If you like Stephen King...

Review: The thing I always loved about Stephen King books was that he'd take a simple situation and all of a sudden you were somewhere in the middle of a mess that made you wonder how you got there. Ninie Hammon's books are like that.

This second part of her trilogy could be read alone because she put in flash backs that bring you up to date. I thought it would be annoying but it really wasn't. BUT, if you don't read the first book first I feel you will miss out on knowing the characters better.

Before Kindle I would read the end of the story first in my books - for specific writers. King was one of them. I had to be sure I could handle going through the book to get to the end. I can't explain how I read novels - it's more like living through them instead of reading and so I had to 'slide' through some parts of this book because I wasn't sure where it would end up.

Ninie's characters are like people you know. Her descriptions make me 'see' them, so I become invested in them. To me an excellent novel is one where I care about the characters and can't wait to see how things turn out for them.

Ninie's novels are wonderful! Give yourself an afternoon to become part of any of them. I bet you'll go back for more!

Review: The Deceiving, book two in The Knowing Trilogy, is one hell of a book. It picks up right where The Knowing ended. Daniel and Jack have just fought off two demons hell bent on killing them and one of those demons succeeded in killing Emily, Daniels wife. And just when they think they can sit down and relax the efreet aka Chapman Whitworth has just been nominated for the Supreme Court.
The Deceiving reads a lot like The Knowing. The story jumps from present to the events of 1985. We get a much deeper look of some of the events that happened that summer and several mysteries are revealed, but like any good book we are left with new questions that need to be answered. I can’t wait to start reading The Reckoning.
