Title: Reflective Inquiry, a Refreshing Approach

Review: I found this book to be an eye opener into the world of coaching, that offered an insight into what people need from a coach and how to allow people to arrive at their end goals naturally through self-reflection. This approach is refreshing in that it takes the pressure off of the coach to ask their clients the "magical question," and uses the client's own words to help them provide solutions to their own problems for themselves. As a new coach, this was a timely read that I will definitely recommend to others in the field. Thank you!

Title: A True Breakthrough In Coaching

Review: Reynolds encourages us to go deep, in order to elevate our coaching skills. She has provided us the key components of crucial coaching practices that have not been explored in such depth previously—a true breakthrough for the field of coaching. Given her 25 years of coaching and developing coaches, she has made these coaching steps actionable with clarifying descriptions and true-life examples. Every segment is packed with nuggets of wisdom and insight to help build skills in reflective inquiry.

With decades of both coaching and mentoring in corporate settings, I appreciate her focus that masterful coaches are as always learning and improving. She supports us to overcome some natural tendencies such as not wanting the client to be in discomfort, or adding our own meaning to what they have expressed. She encourages us to believe in our client’s own resourcefulness and potential. The coach’s role is to thoughtfully help open their perspectives in order to clear obstacles and see their own best path forward. This is a wonderful guide for taking coaching skills to the next level; I am most grateful to Reynolds for writing it.

Title: Transformational Coaching vs. Transactional Coaching

Review: This book has made a significant difference in my coaching practice! I feel like I’ve walked through a threshold of light and understanding.

The guidelines for success are beautifully articulated while allowing for the natural rhythm and flow of coaching. With every chapter I read, I began applying Marcia Reynolds' techniques in my coaching sessions and found it transformative for me and my clients. There is no turning back!

The author is focused on helping people see problems and possibilities in new ways vs. sorting through options and consequences with them. She is skilled at using metaphors to help readers fully embrace and understand the concepts she teaches. If you want people to feel heard, seen and valued, she clearly walks you through an effective step by step process.

Title: Useful for coaching myself, not just others

Review: I expected a great book from such a veteran coach, and was a little surprised to find so much new and thought-provoking material--this is not a book full of reorganized coaching practices we've read about for years. While the methods explained are highly effective for coaching clients, I think the book has much wider applications. I am getting a copy for my newly married daughter as it has tools she'll appreciate as she builds her family. I also found that I can use this process with myself. After reading half the book, I discovered a limiting belief I had held for decades and I know that this book inspired my new awareness. And I guess it inspired courage, too, because I conquered it. I recommend this book whether you are a coach or not.

Review: I have tried coaching and felt that I did get something out of it, but I never continued with it. Dr Reynolds has an approach that sounds like something I could go the distance with. Her "questions seek answers; inquiry provokes insights" is changing the traditional line of coaching in an attempt to unwrap the critical thinking that is so necessary to break the rehearsed responses you get with question-answer responses. I like this author and will be using Coach the Person as a an important resource book in my library.
