"This time, our Family Day will be at Canada Beach! And we'll all sleep at a homestay!" exclaimed Auntie Ayuni, known as the leader in organizing family activities. Back to the story, December had arrived, and Erina and all her husband's family members were on their way to Canadian Beach by car. Erina and her husband left a bit late because they returned from work late, even though it was a Saturday.
Throughout the journey, Erina and her husband were accompanied by songs from the radio, and there were no issues until they arrived at the homestay. The homestay was beautiful, with a swimming pool in front of the house. Erina and her husband arrived a bit late, and many of her in-laws were already fast asleep. Erina and her sister-in-law, Sarah, were told to sleep on a mattress because all the beds were full. So, they had no choice but to comply since there was no other place. Erina's husband slept with his brothers in the living room.
As soon as Erina lay down, her view was directly facing the bed where her mother-in-law was sleeping behind her. Erina thought her mother-in-law was already asleep, but she herself was having trouble falling asleep in a new place. Perhaps half an hour passed, and Erina still couldn't sleep.
Not long after, a figure in a white dress with slight bloodstains and long, curly hair stood upright at the foot of the bed. Its head was bowed, its body stood straight on the bed's edge, and its eyes stared directly at Erina.
Erina thought to herself, "This is definitely not something else, this must be a Pontianak!" So, at that moment, Erina was speechless and silent without uttering a word. Slowly, Erina turned her body to face her mother-in-law, who was sound asleep.
After a few minutes facing her mother-in-law, Erina tried to turn her body back because her neck was stiff. When Erina wanted to turn, she hoped that the figure would have left and not be there anymore. But her hope did not come true because the figure was on the second bed closest to her, and its position was still the same as before. Out of sheer terror, Erina tried to gently nudge her sister-in-law Sarah, but to no avail; Sarah seemed to be in a deep sleep.
Erina's feelings at that time were indescribable. Her whole body became stiff, and her heart raced. So, Erina tried to close her eyes, pretending to sleep like a statue. At one point, the bedroom door opened, and her sister-in-law Helina entered to take something, but she did not see what Erina was focusing on.
At that time, Erina forgot to recite verses from the Quran because she was so preoccupied with wishing for dawn to come quickly. Finally, Erina dozed off around 4 o'clock. Even then, it was a restless sleep.
The next day, Erina told her husband what had happened the previous night. Her husband was shocked to hear it. They tried to tell everyone, but no one else had seen the figure last night. Only Erina had seen it. Erina's husband tried to discuss with his family members to switch their sleeping places so he could sleep with Erina to keep her company. He made that decision because he was worried Erina wouldn't be able to sleep again that night.
All the family members agreed to switch sleeping places and understood Erina's situation. The following night, thankfully, Erina slept soundly, and the figure did not appear again after switching to another room.
