This is a poem about an abused woman who stayed with a monster, afraid to speak out and later found her freedom

Abused

He was once gentle, sweet, and kind.

But as time went on, he changed, turning into a monster behind closed doors, hidden from prying eyes.

She cowers at the approaching footsteps.

Silence fills the air, suffocating and cold.

A scowl on his face, hands raised that were once passionate and loving now inflict pain, leaving behind bruises and scars.

Words spoken sweetly become knives, cutting deep into the soul.

She looks through the window seeking help with her eyes and lips silently pleading.

She's trapped in an endless circle, fear keeping her rooted and silent, afraid to speak out for fear of the monster's threats hanging above her head.

All hope is not lost because at the end of every tunnel, there is a light.

Love, courage, patience, support, and encouragement will finally make her speak, and a safe harbor will be given to her.
