Hydration is making something absorb water. In this case, the human body. It is primarily important for the human body to always be properly hydrated for the following reasons.

First is to lubricate the joints. Water makes about eighty percent of the synovial fluid which is found in joints and whose main function is to absorb shock. However, dehydration reduces the shock absorbing ability of joints hence causing joint pain.

Keeping hydrated also prevents and cures headaches. Headache is a major sign that the body is dehydrated. This is because in case of dehydration, the brain and other tissues shrink and pull away from the skull. This in turn exerts more pressure on the nerves causing pain thus a headache.

Moreover, hydration also aids a lot in weight loss.Taking a lot of water suppresses appetite. Reduction In food intake causes weight loss.

Hydration also regulates body temperature. Water makes up the largest percentage in blood and plasma which are responsible for heat distribution all over the body in cases of low body temperature. In cases of high body temperature, sweating takes place. As sweat evaporates it carries away with it latent heat of vaporization which brings a cooling effect.

Hydration also cushions the brain, spinal cord and other sensitive and delicate tissues. This is by retaining optimum levels of moisture in the protective membranes of these organs and tissues.

In addition to that, hydration is also key in the formation of saliva and mucus. Saliva is important In digestion of starch. Saliva also lubricates food for easier swallowing.

Mucus on the other hand liorm the gut for easier movement of food. Saliva also lines the stomach wall preventing digestive juices from digesting their secretory cells.

The digestive system also depends on hydration. Hydration prevents an overly acidic pH in the stomach due to the presence of hydrochloric acid, which may cause ulcers and heartburn.

Hydration also prevents infection by keeping the mucus membrane in the nasal cavity moist to catch viral bacterial and viral invaders before entering the body.

Furthermore, hydration prevents kidney damage by moving wastes through urine.

Such wastes are excess mineral salts which may cause kidney stones if not flushed out.

Hydration also plays a major role in flushing out wastes. Water softens stool hence lowering the risk of constipation.

Hydration also helps maintain blood pressure by reducing the risk of vasopressin secretion. Vasopressin is a hormone which on its secretion stimulates free water reabsorption in the kidney tubules hence raising blood pressure.

Hydration also boosts performance during

exercise. Heat produced by the working muscles as a byproduct of metabolism causes sweating. However, hydration replaces fluid lost during exercise.

Hydration also facilitates transport of oxygen throughout the body since water makes up the bigger percentage of blood.

In general hydration promotes good health by cleaning all systems of the body. Hydration also promotes beautiful, flawless, soft, hydrated and smooth skin.

Without a doubt, hydration has numerous importances to the human body.
