Review: It just so happens that Misha Horne and AJ Sisko’s 'Not So Smart', book one in their Not So Series, is the book I’ve been waiting for and didn’t even know it. The book that put me inside the head and heart of a man struggling to find that someone to fulfill his deepest, darkest, “not normal” desires.

“I tasted things I couldn’t possibly – power and strength and masculinity. They were concepts, not flavors, but I knew I tasted them, and I licked them up greedily, lapping at his body like a dog.”

As it starts Josh just wants to be used, to have his virginity stripped from him in a one night stand that means nothing. With the object of his obsession, Damon. Who for all intense and purpose seems just the person to do it as the schools “manwhore”. Only problem is Damon has no idea Josh even exists.

Until “Projector Friday’s”. When a couple people are picked at random in class and essentially publicly humiliated.

With “Smart Boy”, Josh, now on Damon’s radar he’s about to get his wish when Damon interacts with him and their desire is instantaneous. Add to that the impression Damon gives Josh that he’s just another “hole for him to fill” and Josh is in heaven thinking it’s always what he “wanted [his] first time to be like”. Rather interesting for a virgin, wouldn’t you say?

Oh, Josh is not your typical virgin, he knows exactly what he wants.

But things get a little uncomfortable as Damon soon finds himself drawn to Josh because the man is “starving for the exact kind of rough F with a heaping side of discipline” he likes the most. Damon has never been challenged by someone he truly desires and we all know there’s something about a challenge that makes it that much more alluring, enticing – and Damon is not backing down.

As Damon begins to see Josh for who he is….or what he wants, “A dirty little twink who needs a daddy”, the power that emanates from these two men becomes an incredible turn on.

It’s like being the voyeur into the beginnings of a beautiful D/s partnership!

Don’t dare for one moment think a person in a submissive position holds no power. The access to both Josh and Damon’s inner thoughts is an awesome reflection of what is happening mentally and physically. Their power exchanges are heady. The intense feeling of Josh’s first touches, moments he has dreamed of, feelings he has craved - boiling over with turmoil, conflict, desire, and lust.

As things come to a head they both find themselves fighting. Warring between a desire for this to mean nothing and the fact that they may just give each other everything they ever imagined.

“I didn’t want us to have a moment, or a relationship, or any feelings. I just wanted him to destroy me.”

'Not So Smart' is smart in its delivery with a seamless collaboration between two co-authors readers are unable to tell where one begins and the other ends. The writing is so extremely visual, you can’t help but be engrossed by its expressive, detailed illustrations. You see every tilt of head, wink of eye, and caress of skin….as if you’re right there. And the analogies layered on top give it an extra depth of feeling as if you yourself are being seduced. Seduced by HAF sex scenes which portray Josh and Damon’s dynamic unfolding not only between themselves but to the reader.

I’m telling you….don’t miss this read! I’m already chomping at the bit for my next fix.

Review: Truth time: I read this book standing in front of the air conditioner!

Is the book really that hot, you ask? OH YES!!

Dirty, filthy, kink galore and I loved every minute of it. It's been a really long time since I read a book this erotically charged with such well written sex scenes. And be prepared...because this book is mostly sex.

A virgin into humiliation, pain, rough sex....not always my thing, but OMG did the authors make it work for Josh. He may not have any experience, but it's what he wants, what he craves...what gets him off.

"The only catch was, what I wanted wasn't just your average lay. I needed rough, unfeeling pain. From someone who wasn't afraid to hurt me. I needed biting and bruises and insults that felt like compliments."

Josh has heard of Damon...the guy who selects a random and screws him to the point where they think they're splitting in two. And that's just what Josh wants. He's been obsessed with catching Damon's eye, and with the two sharing a class...he knows it's only a matter of time. On a day he was least expecting it...that time comes.

What was supposed to be a quick romp to scratch an itch and satisfy a curiosity...starts to build into something more.

Damon is intrigued by Josh. His desires run rougher than even Damon is used to, but he's on board with all of it...even if Josh is making him want more than he's comfortable with.

Josh wanted the sex, not the feelings...but somehow Damon is working his way into other parts of his body...namely his heart. And he's not so sure how he feels about that.

"No one was going to give me what I craved without questions. No one else was going to give me what I needed. I was stuck. Because what I needed was HIM."

This is a quick read, so unfortunately there are a few things that feel underdeveloped about Damon and Josh outside of their sexual chemistry. Normally, this would REALLY bother me, but their sexual compatibility and connection was so unbelievable that I'm still left feeling pretty satisfied.

BUT, it looks like this is the beginning of their relationship as there'll be another book, so I'm hoping we'll get more background and development in the next book. Don't worry, this doesn't end on a cliffy...more of a HFN.

All I gotta say is if this book was meant to hook you on these authors, this story, these characters....

Review: I honestly can’t remember how this ended up on my kindle, hahahaha! I’ve got a bad, bad habit of bloating my Kindle’s bookshelf with a million and one m/m books that caught my eye for one reason or another, but which, realistically, I’ll never get around to reading. But this one? I think I may have grabbed it off The Rainbow Shelf just based on title alone, but since spanking and discipline aren’t really my kink—after I got around to reading the blurb—I sort of figured it would just… sit there. You know, keeping company with the hundreds of other books for someday-maybe.
But then? Fate smiled upon me. :D I had a legit touch-screen “accident” … Not So Smart opened … I glanced at it … then I flipped the page … then I flipped another page … and then? Well, OMG. I lost an entire day to buying and binge reading this author’s entire catalog.
This book is just plain HOT, but the story and the characters, they were way more than I expected. I guess I was thinking it would end up being straight-up erotica, which can be fun, for sure, but for 52,000? Uh, no. Without an actual plot and story and something MORE, that would be a bit much for me. But instead? This one was the best of all worlds. The sex, the kink, they were there, and I’ll just restate that they were definitely well done grin … but they were also wrapped up in an actual story about two guys who the author made me believe in… made me care about… made me yell at… made me root for… made me leave her author page open for WEEKS so I could “just check” if the next book was out yet. :D
