Review: As mentioned in the introduction (nowhere on the front or back covers), this book "is designed as a tool for review and advancement in the language for the advanced beginner and intermediate learner of Spanish". If I did not already have some ability in Spanish I would be lost. On page 3, for example, you are asked to translate complete sentences where no previous instruction was given. "The access fears the critics". I had no idea the word for critics. Page 5: "The smell of enchiladas circulates through the house", but the verb to circulate is not listed in the previous 4 pages, or in the glossary. Be prepared to do a lot of research outside of this book.

Review: I ordered this book, along with the Practice Makes Perfect Spanish Verb Tenses workbook. While I really like the Verb Tenses workbook, this one is not as well written. So far, in the first few exercises, they provide a general vocabulary list, and a verb list. Then they give you exercises in translation and reading comprehension. Unlike the verb tenses book, in the Complete Spanish Grammar, the exercises ask you to translate verbs and vocabulary they don't even bother putting in the list. And most of the words on the list they don't use in the exercises. It's really weird and annoying. The format is good, but they should really use better word lists to correspond with the exercises. I'm glad I bought the other book so that I have a comparison. Hopefully this won't be an issue throughout the entire book.

Review: I genuinely don't know why this book is rated do highly. I bought this book when I started my road to being bilingual and I got do frustrated and discouraged I gave it up. A month passed by I can get by in Spanish but I still have a lot to learn and struggling a ton with sentence creation and conjugations.

I thought to myself hundreds of people got through this book it HAS to be good. So I just do what I can, use the back of the glossary to find words that aren't there, just to do an exercise and get 90% of the question wrong. Some exercises don't even have the answer!

I read, re-read the instructions and explanations and they really do a poor job breaking down why things are like the way they are they just tell you it's this way, gives you bad examples and gives you a bunch of exercises.

I moved to a Spanish speaking territory to learn Spanish so there's no doubt that I'm not serious. This book just discourages me and wastes my time. I waste so much time on exercises, flipping back and forth, rereading the concepts, guessing the answer, reviewing the next day to just get it wrong again I'm just wasting my time.

Even when I make more improvements in my Spanish I don't think I would want to come back here due to its poor presentation and the negativity it brings me.

Review: I purchased 3 PMP books in one order - Spanish Grammar, Verb Tenses and Basic Spanish because they offered “Supporting audio recordings, flashcards, and auto-fill glossary available online and via app.” Before you purchase, go to the link they offer to get the “Bonus App’ - Language Lab at MHProfessional.com and read the reviews. You will be hard-pressed to find anything positive. The promised learning aids are simply not provided in any usable form. “Professional” - NOT.

Title: Annoying...

Review: So, I am taking Spanish lessons, using Duolingo and wanted to focus on actually grammar as well. I found this book to be very annoying because it will have you do exercises without ever telling you some of the words mean. This results in either constantly flipping to the back of the book for definitions or having google translate nearby. It really slows down the lessons so you spend more time trying to figure out translations than actually practicing grammar. I realize this book focuses on grammar instead of vocab but if they are going to ask you to translate sentences at least provide the definition or translation of various nouns/verbs the first time they appear.
