Title: This “fun” fantasy romp is too unrealistic to truly enjoy

Review: This book is written in an easy, breezy style that gave me hope that it was going to be a fun romp, but then it quickly fell off the rails.

I get that this is a fantasy, and the reader has to be willing to deal with some unrealistic aspects along the way, but this book just requires too much suspension of disbelief to enjoy the ride.

I can buy (for the sake of this genre) that there is a cabin in the middle of nowhere, populated only by four studly men who don’t have gingivitis, BO, early pattern baldness, or (probably) even high cholesterol.

What ruins it for me is that these gorgeous men are no more than placards, lacking any real depth. The author tries to give them depth by throwing in some backstory, but then not a single behavior stems from these backstories, so it was just like the author slapped it there with no understanding of how to depict true human behavior on the page.

Another thing that ruins it is that the men speak WAY too politely for alpha males.

“We need to know, Jo, that the next time we make a request of you, like to get in the closet, remain quiet, and in the dark until we tell you it’s safe to come out, that you can comply with our wishes. If you can’t do that, we’re going to have to ask you to leave right away. Figure out on your own how to get down the mountain and to your car.”

Does this sound like how a rugged mountain man would speak? Seems to me like the guy would’ve told the heroine to shut the F up and stay put or he’d bounce her butt out the door.

The heroine also acts unrealistically within the situation she finds herself in—a lone woman, far from help, vulnerable due to an injury, and stuck with four extremely built, sometimes suspicious-acting, full-grown men.

She yells at and scolds these guys—presumably the author is trying to make her look “strong” and “feisty,” but only succeeds in making her look like she has such an ignorant disregard for her own safety that she is TSTL. There is no actual fear depicted behind her thoughts that these men could very well be serial killers.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fun, sexy romp with a group of hot mountain men, I recommend going elsewhere. You won’t find any connection to the characters in this story.

Review: I think this was the first Mika Lane book I've ever read and I will be reading lots more! First of all, reverse harem...who the hell doesn't want that? Second, one woman, four men, a secluded mountain, and lots of great sex. Jo was bratty, sweet and darling all at once. Blaze was a tough dominant male who lived a hard life and wasn't the friendliest at first, Jax was fun-loving and cocky, Reid was sensitive but had an underlying strength, while Pierce had an interesting fetish tucked under his bed. I found it amusing that it wasn't Pierce that invaded that particular area (8-) <surprise face.
Anyway, the plot was well developed, the characters were interesting, and the setting was beautiful. Now I wonder where I can find me some mountain men?

Review: I’ve read several of Mika’s contemporary RH books and I enjoy most of them. They are always good when you are looking for a quick and steamy stand alone read. That’s exactly what this book was for me. I needed a fast burn stand alone that I could quickly read.

I did have a couple complaints about this book and mainly it’s about Jo. Jo’s character irked me at times with her entitled, bratty, city girl behavior. While I appreciate and enjoy a female lead with a back bone, gets just seemed like bratty entitlement. She is living off the grid with these 4 men after suffering an injury while camping but she still asks for a place to plug in her hair dryer and a salad because she doesn’t like venison. I mean, if I was in her shoes and seeing the kind of lifestyle these 4 men had, I wouldn’t have even bothered with asking those questions because I would already know the answer.

It’s a good read if you need something quick and steamy with a HEA.

Review: I didn’t even finish the book, it’s like it was written by a horny man who has no idea what a woman wants, or a teen who hasn’t had any experience in the sack. I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes at literally almost everything the main character said, and the Author wrote her to be some kind of spoiled princess who apparently works at a strip club insert eye roll.

The men are unrealistic and she even lets some man she’s only met for three seconds go down on her even without her consent. I’m not going to finish this book, or read any of the others. The description seemed promising, but I was severely disappointed.
