Title: Loved it

Review: Take everything you know about marriages of convenience and set it aside. With DANGEROUS, Minerva Spencer takes that troupe and makes it fresh and exciting. The main characters, Mia and Adam are older than the norm and both have a past. Mia spent 17 years in a harem and Adam allegedly caused the death of his first two wives. So of course, there will be lies and misunderstandings between the two, right? Nope, they talk to each other. They act like real people. In fact, the characters are so well drawn by the author, they do feel real. They drive the plot forward with actions and decisions that seem inevitable, but never predictable. I couldn’t wait to see where they’d lead me next.
The romance is sigh-worthy, the sex hot and steamy, and the action is nothing short of swashbuckling—you’ll have to read the book to know what I’m talking about. And you should definitely read the book! Looking forward to the next Outcast!

Review: The heroine has an interesting background: she was captured by pirates and held in a harem for 17 years before escaping. Clearly not the most desirable virgin bride on the marriage mart. The hero is rumored to have murdered his last two wives so he isn't too popular among the debutante group either. Together they fall in love, and embark on a perilous trip back to the harem to reclaim something . The characters are well drawn, and the plot isn't bad. Worth a read

Title: 5++ Stars For A Damn Good Book. Much Better Than Your Typical Romance Story

Review: This book was such a treat to read. What a good story and the characters were awesome. The story took me on a wonderful exciting escape to a far away land and adventure. Just a terrific and sexy story that I really enjoyed reading .
This author knows how to write without repeating details over and over. I stayed up half the night just to finish it. the ending was so exciting and dangerous. I highly recommend this book. This author will be on my favorite list.

Review: I have not read this author before and was a little reluctant but the story line seemed interesting enough. I was so glad I did. When I reached the end, I wanted more, and isn't that the best sign of a good story line. This is a well written story full of passion. Will keep reading this author

Review: I really didn’t like this one very much. The book started off well, though, with an unusual storyline. For one thing, the hero, Adam, is thirty-seven years old, and our heroine, Mia, is thirty-two, older than most leading people in Romancelandia. I liked Adam, but not Mia so much. She used people for her own gain, like Adam (until she fell in love with him) and a footman she flirted with (so she could cultivate him to do her bidding).

Mia was abducted by pirates from an English ship at the age of fourteen and sold to a sultan. She had a son with him and lived in the harem for seventeen years. She escaped six months ago and is now entering into London’s social life. All this happens “off screen” and is described in the first chapter or two. Now, in the present, she needs a husband to allow her to accomplish a plan to reunite herself with her son, and Adam needs a wife to produce an heir for himself. Neither is looking for a loving, traditional marriage. They talk it out and are clear about each other’s wants (except Mia is deceptive about her son). So far, so good.

But then at the halfway mark, the book devolves into a non-stop sex-fest. I’ve read a zillion love scenes, but these I thought were cringey and crude. The author managed to use a lot of my most disliked words, like bud, mound, curls, pulsed, squeeze, lick. Gross. Her new husband knows Mia had a child with the sultan (she told him the child died) so he knows she isn’t an untouched flower, but there sure were a lot of gymnastics going on. Where did she get all that experience? Though she was in the sultan’s household for all those years, she was one of sixty wives so she couldn’t have got all that much action; and the sultan preferred very young girls, so she, at thirty-two, would not have been interesting to him for the past many years. And the sultan is described variously: ...clumsy groping... unwell in the last ten years of his life... had simple wants... Also, Mia told Adam that she had been with no other man besides the sultan so we know she wasn’t “loaned out,” so to speak. None of this sounds like the sort of practice she got for the performances she gave Adam as a new bride.

Anyway, I was thinking about abandoning the book at this point, but persevered. Happily, the bedroom marathons ended and we got back to the story. It was interesting again, but I grew tired of how perfect Mia was. She did everything well, like horse riding (though she hadn’t ridden since she was a child), playing chess (she was a master), playing cards (she learned new card games in seconds). She was stupendous in everything except embroidery, which is too girly, I guess.

It all led up to the Big Grand Adventurous Finale, which was silly and confusing. Who pauses to get a wound stitched up while running for your life and trying to hide? (Not just emergency first aid, but STITCHED). And there was a continuity error (a man helping them through tunnels had to leave our good guys, but then was back with them a bit later to tell them he had to leave). The error was just a minor thing that didn’t change anything, but was just an example of how impatient I was getting with the whole thing. The reason Adam had his daughters closed off at a remote estate was stupid too.

So this book wasn’t for me. It got a star for being written pretty well and having a unique plot, and one star for me being able to finish the story, but not much else. Let’s say two-and-a-half stars and I’m glad to be done with it. I do not intend to read the other books in the series.

(One note about what another reviewer wrote: Onboard the ship, the “brown Betty” was a teapot, not a dessert.)

Title: Deep Desires and Daring Deeds

Review: My very first Minerva Spencer read and what a find it is! Her Outcasts are well developed, deliciously entertaining, and the drama is just the right bit of intense to make my romantic reading heart engaged through all of Mia and Adam`s journey. That cover drew me in, but this story has made me a solid fan. Next up, Barbarous! Please and thank you, dear author!

Review: He has lost two wives and is thought to have killed them. Plus he has other secrets. So who would marry him? Well, she was sold into a sultans harem and has her secrets as well. But, there is chemistry between them and they need to marry someone for various reasons. Will the secrets they have prevent their relationship to grow and develop? Really good saga! Worth the read.
