Title: Perfect for implementing Agile for embedded systems

Review: This book cracks the code of how to utilize agile/scrum in the development of embedded systems. Its probably the best application of agile I've seen outside of software development. There are several agile frameworks in the market today - but Metagility is more than that - its a step by step guide of how to effect agile transformation in the development of highly complex products and environments from the executive down to the team level. It covers not only the process, tools, and technical aspects, but the human ones as well - including how to win and engage executives, and create self organizing teams. Perhaps most importantly, Metagility introduces the concept of agile vorticity, which informs how agile your organization really is with respect to the marketplace, and if you aren't, what you need to do to get there. Metagility is a must-read for anyone interested in leading their company or organization to becoming number one in their market.

Review: Managing projects with Agile is one of the most important ways to create innovation quickly in this fast-moving business world that we operate within. Dr Bishop outlines well how to bring Agile to different types of projects. His own extensive experience is offered throughout this well-composed book. I enjoyed reading how he has applied it to various projects and he offered extensive detail for use by professionals who may have some familiarity with Agile and want to go deeper. As a project management with decades of experience, I highly recommend this book.

Review: Dr. Bishop’s Metagility provides managers a practical playbook and system of measures to assist them in successfully developing products in environments with ever increasing rates of market change and technological innovation. Combining his 25 years of experience in technology management with his own research and that of other scholars, Bishop outlines a hybrid framework, metagility, that combines agile and stage-gate methods to achieve product success and successfully balance the three points of the agile triangle: 1) Value (as measured by stakeholders and their expectations) and 2) Quality (delivering what the customer needs) subject to project 3) Constraints- (scope, schedule, and cost). His book not only discusses why the hybrid approach of metagility is needed and the science behind it (Agile Vortex Theory), but more importantly for the manager discusses in detail the practical benefits, issues, and challenges in its implementation. It is both a scholarly work and a hands-on resource for business professionals.

Review: This is a must read for software practitioners and their management. Time to market cycles are ever decreasing. Speed, effectiveness, and flexibility (that is agility) in developing and fielding high quality software is crucial to business success. The book provides a blueprint on how to implement agile software development practices. Significantly, the book also focused on the culture change and leadership principles to be adopted by senior management that have proven useful by many organization. This is a key "how to" manual for any organization seeking to be more effective in the use of software technologies in their business.
