Review: Not exactly what I hoped for. In fact, lots of the recipes sound easy and tasty enough....but the book doesn't tell you
how many servings it yields. Some of the info could have been written in an easier to understand way. However, I
did keep it and am getting some info from it that I needed. Most people would probably like the book.

    Title: Not what I thought

Review: This book implies that it is a low carb diet book. It's just a diet book. The author seems to have a fear of fats and as a result everything is lean. Today just as it was in the sixties I would think that a low carb diet would show you how to incorporate fat into your diet and how to minimizes carbs. It doesn't do that . Perhaps I should have read the reviews before my purchase (buyer beware) and so I've learned a lesson. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This is an old fashioned diet book with a new title. The author in some cases dodges the truth. People who are having problems who may be potential diabetes patients who need to take the strain off of their pancreas could harm themselves following this diet. I bought the book to read in doctors waiting rooms and now I have to buy another book.

    Title: Looking for this

Review: Years ago, I visited a dietician. She set me up on a plan she said was used for diabetics. Based on food choices, # of carb servings, and not really calories, though the meat choices were lean, leaner and leanest. She also gave me a booklet from the ADA that detailed the plan. We moved, and I think I threw the booklet out, so couldn't "get on" the plan again. About 2 or 3 years ago, I went back to a (different) dietician, and she had no idea what I was talking about. (same hospital as the first dietician). This book almost identically mimics that plan. The only difference I think was that she had figured out how many calories somebody at my goal weight would need to sustain the weight, and calculated my plan accordingly.

Title: Diabetic carb exchange info and generally healthy eating
Date: Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on September 20, 2014
Review: This isn't the extreme low/no carb information- this is much more likely to be a longterm viable eating plan. The 'Dummies' books are good in general. This seems to be much like the carb exchange information that diabetic meal planners teach now, without encouraging ketosis (which is not a good idea for diabetics- it's not the same as ketoacidosis, but not a good plan to be using fumes to power the brain, which can only use carbs for optimum functioning). As an R.N. and diabetic, I like this information and guidance towards overall healthy eating (i.e. includes fruits and whole grains).
