Title: Highly Recommended Not Just for Athletes But For Anyone Needing Strength In Times of Adversity

Review: Sharapova was always a favorite athlete of mine, but this book made me respect her even more. At first, one might consider this a narcissistic autobiography because of her confidence in her abilities and the parts where she interviews her coaches who tell her what made her a great tennis player from the beginning. First of all, they are all true, and second, you will benefit from reading and applying what she does to stay strong physically and mentally, and what it is about her her coaches saw that convinced them she is a winner - you don't even need to be an athlete.

This book shows why she is a winner in the tennis courts, in life, and why she stands out from her contemporaries. She takes you on her journey during her most difficult times where she also takes accountability. Reading this (and do not skip pages) shows you her thought patterns: what she does to revert defeatist thoughts back to "I can", "I will". Reading this book inspired me to take action in making myself healthier and stronger physically and mentally (and I was not always strong). I applied whatever I could from her routines (positive thinking, physical and mental fitness, etc.), just never giving in to defeat! I can say life has been better (physically and mentally) having read this book.

Title: Wow! This book is among the best I have read recently.

Review: Actually, I would rate this book as a 6. Like a Russian doll, with multiple dolls within it, the book is really many stories. For me, the most interesting was Sharapova's description of the elements in her character which made her so successful: determination to win, persistence, focus. Second, the story is about a family faced with an exceptional child. Do you provide the opportunities to develop that exceptional talent. Do you insist that the kid needs to live a balanced life. Third, the story is about an individual and a family who have sacrificed so much to achieve a goal. Mom is left at home because she cannot get a visa. The very young daughter writes emotional letters to her mom each day. A boy sees one of the letters and criticizes her for the emotional letters. "It's all well and good. You have a mom, I don't", Sharapova replies. This is a story about people pursuing an impossible goal, amazingly achieving it. Finally, the book is about a star tennis player that I have sometimes seen.

Title: interesting story

Review: if you like maria you will enjoy this book. The story of her childhood with her father is a very sad and lonely one as they had so little help from anyone - could hardly speak English, had almost no money, mother could not accompany them so it was very difficult. I thought her story was much more inspiring compared to the Williams sisters because the Williams sisters were Americans and I am sure they had a lot of help along the way whereas Maria and her father being Russian were always given a difficult time. I believe Maria could have gone on to win many more slams, but unfortunately once she had shoulder problem it took its toll on her career. A good read.

Title: When you write a memoir there’s nowhere to hide

Review: This is a beautifully written memoir that deserves recognition for Maria’s passionate portrayal of her life and her challenges along the way. From the very first page I admit to tears flowing regularly, so much so that I slowed down my reading to treasure every single page. A life lived without passion is no life at all. I admire her emotional strength and thank a very close friend for insisting I read about Maria’s journey. A must read for its lessons, not just on sport, but on living life to its fullest. Thank you, Maria, for sharing your heart and your spirit. As I said when I wrote my own story: when you write a memoir, there’s nowhere to hide.

Title: Received Defective Disc 5; twice; but wonderful story; and fun-to-hear Maria on audiobook

Review: I had twice ordered this Unstoppable cd set, and each set I received had a defective Disc 5; so part of the audio was inaccessible. That prompted me to rate my Unstoppable audio cd purchase 3 stars.

I enjoyed hearing Maria‘s story that was not lost to the defects.

Now that I have received a third (replacement) Unstoppable audio cd set, and listened to the full audio cd book; I raise my rating to 4.5 stars.

Maria did a good job of telling her story and her family’s story. Since Maria, herself, read/recorded the Unstoppable audio presentation, it was a special pleasure to listen to Maria tell her story (in her own words and voice) on the audio cd’s.

I trust that at least some other young ladies at IMG Academies had more pleasant social experiences than Maria recalls. Since one‘s impressions can be so powerfully impacted, especially negatively impacted, by the contact one has with a very few people; it‘s wonderful to see that, on the whole, Maria advanced well through her childhood and is now living life on a different basis.

Title: Couldn't Put This Book Down !

Review: I am three quarters through this book so far, and I am impressed. It is very hard to put down as she describes her life in detail. From before she was born even ! To coming to America as a young child with her father - starting with just a few hundred dollars in his pocket. This just proves for people that sometimes dreams come true I guess and you have to go with your (her father's) intuition. It tells so many good stories on different levels - on how Yuri Sharapova quit his job of hard construction work - risking everything - to give his daughter the chance to excel and become one of the world's greatest female tennis players.
A good book for me so far and I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Title: A rags to riches story.

Review: This is a memoir by Maria Sharapova, with assistance from a ghost writer. Most of the book consists of her upbringing as a young prodigy, through her best years in the mid-2000's, with the end being up to her appeal of a suspension for use of a prescribed substance that was banned by the ITF. The writing is short and choppy, though easy to read. There are some selected excepts from her personal diary, which feels more like her voice. Now that it is discounted, it is a fair price for this book.

Review: Excellent read. Its an honest and open story about her life. I loved her thoughts on other players on the tour and her mentality on competing. Her story on how she came to America and became a champion is truly amazing.
