Review: yes! yes ! yes! this book is so awesome! i am like halfway and i got it earlier this week...and ive been learning so much. this book is one of those books that you need in ur collection. it's great because it has alot of scripture and its straightfroward in everyday language. Chip ingram breaks down the character of God sooo well. and it truly refreshes you. so that while i read this on my break and then later throughout my workday i could easily remember God is Soverign...he can work all things out. Etc etc. This book of course is not a subsititue for the BIble. The Word of GOd will and is ALWAYS neede dbut i is a great book to read. WHether you are a new or old believer it will give you a correct perspective of God. And then as you delve into the Pages of Scripture you start digging and looking at God's character the right way, marvelling at it. This book can be good for all but can be especially good for people who are new believers who havent read much sctipture or even people who have been in the church since they were a kid but have a distorted view of God. That was me...and this has been so inspiring. I would also recommend the JI Packer knowing God and AW towzer knowledge of GOd. chip was heavily influenced by those 2 books and u can tell. i decided to read this book after my friend who i saw such a change in her life and such a passion for God recommended me that tozer book but i couldnt find it so i got this instead. im still going to read the others but this is so important to have a knowledge of God. if youve ever wondered why you cant just be "Religious" or legalistic with "rules" and never understood the importance of a relationship with God this book explains. It also shows u how to get a knowledge of God and gives you a little gas in your car. ALl I can say is "yes" just buy it! u won't regreat =D

Review: I've never come across a message so clear. It comes from a scholar of the Bible. Chip creates a clear message that is easy to take in and understand. I do not have enough time or frankly know how to examine the Bible the way I wish I could. Chip has done this and provides the answers we are looking for. Having dedicated himself to providing a clear and inspiring revelation into how we can and should understand who God is - and not what the world tells us He is. In a fallen world, we will all experience desperate times. I have found this a great resource to turn to like a candle in the dark during such times. Thank you.

Review: The premise is right on. Sometimes the author isn't careful with his use of language, for example, "generosity expresses the simple wish that others should have what they need to make them happy." Happy? Have you ever tried to make someone happy and find out what they need to make them happy is a black hole? Although he is quoting someone else, he is agreeing with it. The term, "happy" is imprecise.

Review: It's important to know that the book works through the 'characteristics' of God and takes each one step by step. It's not necessarily a quick read through, so much as a 'take it chapter by chapter' and meditate on it to allow time for the information on resonate and sink in. We are currently in small group working through this book and I've seen quite a few 'ah ha' moments on the faces of our group members and for me, I've underlined and spent time really enjoying the teachings and encourgement this book offers.

Review: This is a book which takes a look through an unusual lens. We don't often think about how God wants us to see him. I feel that Chip Ingram had some important things to say. Where I feel the book broke down a bit was that he seemed to be going over very similar material in each chapter. This book would have been wonderful if limited to 2 or 3 chapters, as it is written it starts to become tedious by the end of the book. This is designed for a committed group study, and with such a group it can be a valuable study.

Review: A wonderful book for new believers or anyone wanting a deeper understanding of God. This is the third time I've gone through it in a bible study setting and each time God shows me something new about myself and my relationship with Him. Chip is a great communicator and Amazon does a terrific job getting me the books I need as quickly as possible.

Review: I haven't read a book by Chip Ingram that I haven't liked. This book did not disappoint--it exceeded my expectations! It helped to demolish the misperceptions I had of God; and it helped to build a new, more accurate, vision of God in me. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially to those who don't know God well or are struggling with their image of Him!
