Title: Not just for coaches

Review: This book is packed full of intentional and compassionate ways of helping others unlock their own potential. I am not a professional coach, but when I started reading this, I was honestly confused why Christy was giving away the recipe to her "secret sauce"! But that really is the point. She has crafted such a unique and powerful framework that sharing it creates community, not competition - a concept that is incredibly appropriate for the distributed, remote world that a lot of us are still working in.

I will continue applying her techniques both professionally as a leader, and personally as a friend and partner. I would recommend this book and the leadership programs mentioned within to any organization that wants to empower their leaders with empathy, community, and confidence.

Title: Learn how to make an impact with The PEER Revolution

Review: The PEER Revolution: Group Coaching that Ignites the Power of People shares insights on how people (regardless if your title is a coach, leader, or fellow human) can have an impact walking alongside others in a profound way. Through using coaching and leadership skills, combined with care and commitment to help others, Christy Uffelman shows us how to create an open learning environment to elevate the experiences of others.

I first had the privilege of meeting Christy during Brené’s Brown’s Dare to LeadTM Facilitator Certification. She brings the same authenticity and attention you find through interacting with her live into her writing. Christy has cut through the noise of our busy world to bring meaningful human principles to life in tactical ways that anyone can put into place and scale.

While I enjoyed reading the entire book, several key concepts took out to me:
* We learn from Christy – her mistakes and successes. She openly shares her professional and personal experiences, while weaving in testimonials from actual group coaching members throughout the book. I found this to be powerful, inviting others into share their experiences.
* The focus on co-creating a container to promote sharing of connections and vulnerability in a safe way. The ability for everyone, not just the coach, to hold space for each other is magical and provides skills that all participants can immediately bring into their daily lives.
* As the coach, it is not about being the expert in the world and having all the answers. It is about walking alongside each other and elevating each other’s experiences. Christy uses the analogy of holding a mirror up for each other in a compelling way throughout the book.

Reflecting on the various roles I’ve had over the years – as a facilitator, design thinker, employee experience advocate – the concepts in this book apply across all of those environments. Now that I find myself currently working on becoming a certified coach, I’m looking forward to revisiting the book often and bringing the concepts to life in my own work. Thank you, Christy, for putting together an insightful and meaningful resource to help us, and help others, find their light.

Title: Great Ideas for Coaches and Leaders

Review: I was very excited to read Peer Revolution and I was not disappointed. Christy provides a step by step guide for coaches and leaders in her peer coaching model that will help anyone who coaches people in the workplace...and who doesn't?
I didn't agree with everything she says, for example, her discussion of therapy vs coaching suggests that therapy looks back while coaching looks forward is not exactly accurate from my experience as both a psychologist and coach. The power of Christy's work is based on helping people discover more about who they are as people and professionals and how their history shapes them. I like to think that her work is not therapy but given the wonderful stories people share in the book, I would say that her work is therapeutic for folks.
Congratulations, Christy, and thanks for sharing your work in such a cogent and well-written book!

It teaches the importance of not just relying on the leader but the entire team to be more accountable, inspirational and inclusive. In essence, everyone becomes a part of helping each other realize each other’s full potential.

Review: The book discusses the power of peer relationships and how to bring the most out of these relationships by using the PEER Technology framework.

Having been in one of Christy's EDGE program cohorts in 2020, I experienced myself the benefits of group coaching in the environment Christy created for our group. And the deep connections that were built during the program have been life-changing for me in many ways and will continue to last a lifetime.

I was so glad to hear that Christy was sharing the magic (the PEER Technology framework) of what I experienced with the publishing of this book. Even though I am not a coach myself by career, I very much enjoyed reading this book and can see myself using the approach in many ways as a people leader and as mentor to others. I also liked how Christy has included many real life examples along with the framework and Thought Sparks questions to challenge the readers on how we can apply what we learned.

I would recommend anyone who wants to grow and also help others grow together to pick up this book!

Review: First, let me admit that I am not a certified coach. I am a leader who truly understands the value of coaching. Too often when an official coach is not available, we look upwards on our management chain for a coach. How often do we think to look to a peer or within our network? PEER coaching is revolutionary. The Group coaching model has the potential for companies to fill their bench with inspiring leaders who once lacked the confidence to be leaders. This group coaching model enables everyone to become coaches while they individually learn to hold themselves accountable to identify what’s holding them back. When leveraged within a cohort, companies have the opportunity to build equitable and inclusive networks. I am thrilled to be able to share this with my company’s Growth and Learning organization.
