Review: The authors use of "honestly" and a couple other phrases too frequently has really been annoying me.
Some discrepancies.
Sex scenes I've just been skipping half the time. And Jesus he wastes so much time when he has too much to do.. !
It also really annoys me that Sawyer is still taking half his profits... What kind of idiot gives away so much money. Sawyer is making more profit than he is. Those enchantments are unique to Sean and because of that alone he should be taking 95% and charging way more. His wives should be selling them instead. He doesn't need Sawyer to steal so much of his money when he desperately needs it. So dumb.

Also I think its ridiculous that he shortens all the girls names to 2 or 3 letters.. Maxine to max, com'on that's a dudes name and Maxine isn't long or hard to say. Roxy to rox, jolene to Jo, dealyn to Dea, Louise to Lou!! Etc. Seriously its dumb. And they just met his mother, you don't call your new m-I-l Lou when her name is Louise. Jo and Dea are fine, but the others just sound dumb.

Review: The fifth book in the Valens Legacy addresses one of my two principle complaints with the series. I don’t know if this is a retro-fix or was planned from the beginning, and I don’t care. Stryvant provides a workable explanation for the incredible magical abilities that Sean has acquired over such a short period of time. There is still far too little stress on the beast within the lycanthropes for my tastes, but ultimately that’s the author’s choice.

This series is engaging and I greatly look forward to each new volume, but the books also feel rushed, which explains why I keep giving them 3 or 4 stars. Stryvant needs to slow down a little and take the time to seriously revise/polish his books. While I’m sure all of his fans appreciate getting a volume of the series every six weeks or so, I always find that giving yourself a little time for a serious rewrite vastly improves the quality of the novel. So I like the series quite a bit. The characters are diverse and interesting. The action is well thought out. But they could be substantially better if the writing wasn’t quite so hurried.

Review: This is a good book ending with a nice cliff hanger. I am surprised that as possessive as the werelion is, that he would let his casual lovers take other lovers. I am assuming that his casual lovers can see other men. The lion’s possessiveness is inconsistent. Anyone he sticks his dick in becomes his. But then his casual lovers are free to take other men as lovers?

As with the other books in the Valen series there is graphic sex, and a lot of hinted lesbianism, but no overt lesbianism in this book unlike others in the series. Otherwise the sex scenes are rather vanilla, with the studly lion able to sexually satisfy all five wives in turn. Sean gets one of his wives pregnant in this book, making the total of two wives now pregnant, counting the usually absent pregnant sorceress he impregnated first.

I would think that the lion’s casual lovers such as Deirdre and Sheila would be prevented from taking other male lovers. I also wonder if the “not wife material” casual lovers could become wives. I would like to see the werefox, Sheila added to the Valen wife harem.

Some small mistakes in the book, such as Cabela’s is spelled with one l not two.

This book and the next book feel as if the author took one book and split it in half. I understand the author is taking a break after the next book which also concludes this first story arc.

Review: Have read all the books so far (and a lot quicker then I expected), and am looking forward to the next book DESPITE the way boo 5 ended LOL. I have read a LOT of books over the years, and have read a lot with cliff hangers. Sometimes, its just the way it has to be. When you look at what it would have taken to move it, and still have it fit in place, its really the way it needed to be. Either he could continue on and make the next book shorter with less impact, or he could have stopped sooner, but where? Anywhere in the last several chapters STILL would have left a cliffhanger, and you dont know at this point if there is something coming that REALLY needs it own story to make sense. I'm not saying I didnt mutter a bit when this one ended, but still loved it! Thanks for your imagination, loving it!

Review: Keeps the energy of the series flowing. Shame about the cliffhanger, but probably couldn't be helped, and we all know its going to turn out right.

Yes, this is a feel-good series. There are definite downs at times, but the general trend is uplifting.

If you think that is a bad thing, then go read Proust or Tolstoy and feel good about yourself and die in your gloom....

A great series that will provide an uplift to readers of all ages -- well, I guess to those over 18 in the USA -- and all genders.

A few tupos : ) But they don't detract from the story being told.

Review: Up front: I like the series, started reading using KU and then bought the whole series because I’ll be rereading them.

That said, I’m an editorial geek. Part of what attracted me was how professionally edited the first several books were. That has slid a bit, starting around book 5 or 6. We do notice these things. 😉 It went from an average 1 mistake per 10 pages or so down to 1 in 5-6. Still not too bad, but I figure this might bring it to the author’s attention before it gets to ugly levels.
