Ile-Ife: Cradle of Civilization"

Ile-Ife, the land of our fathers,

Ile -Ife, where Yoruba culture was birthed,

Where Yoruba's roots in history stand.

Ooni of Ife, Oduduwa - the wise one, the first ever reigned king,

Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II),

Guardian of Yoruba culture beneath the skies.

From two great deities, Oduduwa and Obatala's hand,

The world was shaped on Ile-Ife's sand.

A place of dispersion, as the name does suggest,

Yoruba's heart and soul, in Ile-Ife's chest.

Terracotta and bronze, stones and more,

Arts crafted with skill, treasures to adore.

Sculpting in copper, in quartz, and in brass,

Ile-Ife's creativity, through time, will amass.

The first divine king, Oduduwa's name,

From Ile-Ife's womb, Yoruba's fame.

Ancestors' echoes in each tradition we find,

In Ile-Ife, renowned sons and daughters of cultural heritage have emerged,

Two feet below the earth, a treasure did gleam,

Bronze heads uncovered, like a forgotten dream.

Wunmonije's Compound, where history was found,

Ile-Ife's mysteries, in the sacred ground.

The Ooni's palace, a majestic sight,

A symbol of power, in the sun's soft light.

National Museum, where relics reside,

In Ile-Ife's culture, they take you on a ride.

Shrines like Ile-Oduduwa, Opa Oranmiyan,

Oke-Mogun, Ifa temple, are sacred place and artefacts,

Historical sites, in Ile-Ife's embrace,

A flame of heritage, for all to trace.

So, let's remember with respect and pride,

Ile-Ife's heritage, never to hide.

The cradle of Yoruba culture and civilization,

A sacred place of endless fascination.
