Yoruba Language: A Melodic Tongue

Yoruba language, a melodic tongue,
A melodic tongue, with rhythms pure and bright,
Its syllables dance like notes in the night,
In Yoruba's language, a treasure to recite.

From "A" to "Y," each sounds interlace,
In Yoruba's cadence, stories do become,
Each vowel and consonant, a delicate lace,
"A, E E I O O U", I cannot forget,
A vibrant tune where histories thrum,
In Yoruba's language, generations drum.

"A pe ko to jeun, kìí jẹ ba je," they say,
In Yoruba's proverbs, wisdom finds its way,
A lyrical wisdom to guide night and day,
In Yoruba's language, truth's gentle ray.

Through "Adire" and "Gele," "Agbada" and "Fila" traditions they adorn,
In Yoruba's attire, culture's proudly worn,
Each stitch and fold, a heritage reborn,
In Yoruba's language, unity's sworn.

From "Ile-Ife" to "Lagos" by the shore,
From "Oyo Kingdom" to "Eba odan" now "Ibadan"
In Yoruba's regions, rich tales galore,
A vibrant culture that continues to explore,
In Yoruba's language, traditions we adore.

In "Ewi" and "Ijala," poetic verses so grand,
In Yoruba's heritage, traditions that withstand,
A lyrical journey through this ancient land,
In Yoruba's language, where poets command.

From "Rara" to "Apala," rhythms entwine,
In Yoruba's melodies, a tapestry divine,
Each note, a story, in the heart's design,
In Yoruba's language, where voices align.

With "Fuji" and "Juju," music takes flight,
In Yoruba's songs, through day and night,
A celebration of culture, a joyous rite,
In Yoruba's language, our spirits ignite.

Yoruba is my mother tongue, My mother tongue is Yoruba,
Everywhere I go, I celebrate this melodic accent,

An accent with a difference, Where echoes of the past are softly sung,
In Yoruba's cadence, old and young,
Rich and poor, forever we are proud of you.
