According to authorities, a former member of the Panna royal family in Madhya Pradesh was detained on Friday on suspicion of breaking temple regulations by entering the sanctum sanctorum during Janmashtami celebrations.
As is customary each year, the Shri Jugal Kishore temple in the Bundelkhand region, which encompasses the Panna district, commemorated the birth anniversary of the Hindu God Krishna at midnight.

The temple's rites were allegedly disrupted by Jiteshwari Devi's insistence on doing the 'aarti' herself, according to temple officials. She then slipped and collapsed while attempting to enter the sanctum sanctorum.

After a disturbance, the police were called to the shrine and asked the former queen to vacate the grounds.
