The prestigious citadel of learning, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is gearing up for an exhilarating 10km marathon set to take place tommorow, Saturday, April 20, 2024, organised by the Students Union Government Director of Sports, Comr. Bert-Okonkwo Ebube Cordelia, courtesy of the champion of Anambra youth, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.

This high society event sponsored by the first Non-Executive Director on World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) and founder of Feet 'N' Tricks International, is poised to be a celebration of athleticism, community spirit, and youth empowerment.

Valentine Ozigbo, one of the most celebrated global CEOS and the frontline aspirant of the Labour Party in the 2025 Anambra State Governorship election, is thrilled to support this initiative. He believes in the transformative power of sports, to inspire, motivate, and dramatically raise the profile of young athletes, encouraging them to prioritize their physical health and well-being.

The marathon will commence promptly at 7:30 am from Garuba Square, UNIZIK, Awka, following a scenic route with strategic checkpoints through Elmada Hostel, Boys Hostel, Bank Bus stop, and Beautiful Gate, before returning to Garuba Square. Water break spots will be provided at each stop to ensure participants stay hydrated and energised.

While the marathon is underway, Garuba Square will come alive with various activities including table tennis, badminton, and more, offering a vibrant atmosphere for both participants and spectators alike.

However, the organisers extend warm invitation to the public and students to witness this exciting and eye-catching event, which will showcase the University's dedication to promoting health, fitness, and community engagement. Whether cheering on the marathoner or participating in the sideline activities, all are encouraged to join in the festivities and support for athleticism and camaraderie.
