As the world is experiencing climatic change pandemic, the youths are at higher chances to be used as ambasadors of the solutions.

THE YOUTHS CHAMPIONS OF CLIMATIC CHANGE

Every year, many people loses their lives mysteriously due to problems and calamities related to climate. Natural disasters such as Drought, famine, pests, diseases, floods and earthquakes have become major threats against human lives over a long time now.

September 1, 2023, the president of the republic of kenya his Excellency Wiliam Ruto urged kenyan youths to put more efforts against climatic change problems and how to control. In his speech during the climatic change summit in Nairobi, he said that our country is one among the nations with high risk to climate change crisis and the youths are the one who are capable to look for possible solutions. President Ruto has been busy signing some important bills and one of the most recent is the Climate Change Amendment Bill which is important because it will help protect our environment and fight climate change. These bills are testaments to President Ruto's commitment to making our country a safer place.

However, before President Ruto announced the floor open for everyone, youths from transnzoia county in Kapomboi Ward had come up with a strategy to ensure no climate change effects will be observed after the meteorologists foretold about the heavy rains that are going to be experienced across the country. The group is in combination of atleast educated teenagers and youths from the unwanted village called FOKKLAND mostly "fokky" where drug abuse, early pregnancies, school dropout and early death is a common thing.

The group is named "kapomboi charity foundation" and their aims is to protect the welfare and goodness of the vulnerable persons in the society. So far, they have been dealing with clearing drainage systems that directs water important places like market centres and clean water points. By doing this, the issue of floods and outbreak of diseases like cholera, bilharzia and typhoid is reduced.

Apart from doing so, they also sensitize the society on the importance of recycling used items such as plastic bottles. They believes that they can be used for other purposes instead of throwing them in the field which sometimes destroys the environment because they are nonbiodegradable hence can not decompose to add nutrients to the soil. The team also takes part in educating the society about the use of drought resistant crops in order to fight hunger and proper utilisation of land for adequate production and increase level of food security in the area and the nation as well. The aim of this group is to make the village clean and change the mindset of the people that the village made for sufferers and useless people.

Also, global warming is a major threat to human and animal lives in kenya and many parts of the world as it's heat isvexperienced. It occurs when carbon dioxide and other air pollutants collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off the earth’s surface. Normally this radiation would escape into space, but these pollutants, which can last for years to centuries in the atmosphere, trap the heat and cause the planet to get hotter. These heat-trapping pollutants—specifically carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, water vapor, and synthetic fluorinated gases collects and forms the ozone layer that covers the sun radiations thus preventing sun rays from penetrating into the atmosphere.

Though natural cycles and fluctuations have resulted to global warming, our current era of global warming is directly attributable to human activity—specifically to our burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, gasoline, and natural gas, which results in the greenhouse effect. In many parts of the world, major causes of global warming is transport where petroleum products are used and emits harmfull gasses into the atmosphere.

Curbing dangerous climate change requires very deep cuts in emissions, as well as the use of alternatives to fossil fuels worldwide. To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, scientists tell us that we need to reduce global carbon emissions by as much as 40 percent by 2030. For that to happen, the global community must take immediate, concrete steps to decarbonize electricity generation by equitably transitioning from fossil fuel–based production to renewable energy sources like wind and solar; to electrify our cars and trucks; and to maximize energy efficiency in our buildings, appliances, and industries.

Each year scientists learn more about the consequences of global warming, and each year we also gain new evidence of its devastating impact on people and the planet. As the heat waves, droughts, and floods associated with climate change become more frequent and more intense, communities suffer and death tolls rise. If we’re unable to reduce our emissions, scientists believe that climate change could lead to the deaths of more than 250,000 people around the globe every year and force 100 million people into poverty by 2030.

In efforts to reduce the issues related to climate due to petroleum products, the government of kenya has launched the motobikes that uses rechargeable batteries. This will help lower down the rate of direct emission of gasses into the environment.

People in some parts of kisumu county has been complaining in the media that floods have been affecting their day to day lives but they recieved no suport from the administration. The recent ones said that the long elmino rains that are yet to come is a huge problem that will come with great problems so it is important to put more measures like relocating to highland places and building proper drainage systems to control it. One of the youths was heared talking angrily saying that floods threatens them every year.

University and other tertiary institutions are also leading in fight against climate change in kenya. A good example is Rongo University where a club named "PEACE AMBASSADORS KENYA" leads the race by creating awareness about taking care of the environment by planting a lot of trees, cleaning the soroundings and well use of resources. The team has been operating very well within the institution and the entire Kitere village as whole. Last year, they hosted a three day event whereby every participant was allowed to have a tree to plant and the one that survived well was to be awarded. This motivated every member to take intensive care for their trees. This year, officials will pay a visit the institution and see the progress. The team of officials is led by Mr Mike *MIC* who is an Alumni and Titus Gimathi who is an environmentalist from Meru county.

In conclusion, to achieve all these and hit kenya vission 2030, it is important that our youths who are the future generation try to implement and put into actions activities that can help them to ensure no climatic change effects are observed. Also the government should empower them with finance to facilitate their programs in order to increase productivity in the field. Experts should use their knowledge to educate the society at large curb the climate change pandemic.
