EPISODE 5 ( FIVE ) title ( KIDNAPPED )

Sc. 1a/Ext/ Lonely street/ Day.

Xtra JIFE.

( JIFE was seen walking down the street, all of a sudden he saw a job opportunity paper pasted on a wall with a phone number, Jife hurriedly get closer to take proper look while he brought out his phone and dialed the phone number written on the job opportunity advert pasted on a wall and then a voice responded to Jife while he became engaged in a conversation with the person who directed him for a meet point.

FADE...)

Scene 2 ( Jife was seen walking down the road according to the direction given to him by unknown person over a job opportunity from the previous scene, then he came across a young lady and decided to ask for a direction, there the lady he met pointed to the direction to Jife )

JIFE.

Please excuse me shenke?

LADY.

Can I help you?

JIFE.

abeg I dey look for direction leading to ijoba street.

LADY.

Okay you're almost there sir, just move ahead a little then turn to your right, you will see signboard written the name of the street.

JIFE.

okay thank you very much.

( JIFE was seen walking down according to the direction and he brought out his phone to call the number of the unknown person he's supposed to meet with, who later turned to be a kidnapper, and the voice of the kidnapper directed him to stop at the next junction that he will be coming to pick him and then Jife followed the instructions, after describing the kind of clothes he was putting on, few minutes later Jife was seen waiting, while a young man well dressed in cooperate was seen walking towards where Jife was standing while waiting patiently, looking at his face he realized that could be the person he was waiting for according to the description of the kind of clothes he was putting on, so he approach JIFE while he brought out his phone and dialed Jife's number in other to make sure he's not meeting the wrong person, as soon as Jife tried to pick the call, he realized he was already with Jife so he quit the call and then he ask JIFE )

Kidnapper

Are you Mr Jife?

JIFE.

Yes I am Jife sir.

Kidnapper.

Oyah follow me, let me take you to my boss.

( And Jife followed him without questioning or to find out where he was taking him to just because he was after getting a job ).

Scene 3, Episode 5. uncompleted building ( Day )

Xtra,. JIFE, KIDNAPPERS.

( Camera open where Jife was tied up and he was laid down while he was still on conscious and three kidnappers was surrounding him as they watched him, then Jife slowly open his eyes while he realized he was kidnapped )

JIFE.

Come wetin dey happen here?

KIDNAPPER 1

Come on shut your mouth my friend?

JIFE.

I no understand na wetin I dey do for here, how I take come here and why una tie me rope like this?

KIDNAPPER 2.

okay bros so you want to know wetin you dey do here ( while he bend down and faces Jife as he uses one of his fingers to race Jife's face up to face his, then Jife realized it was same guy he met last over a job opportunity, so he fully understand that he has been kidnapped )

JIFE.

So bros you be kidnapper? ( He continues in sobber ) oh God na wetin be this na, me warri?

KIDNAPPER 3

hey were if you no shut your mouth now I go help you shut am up, idiot, you think say na play we come play for here abi? ( While he brought out a gun to show Jife to his face as he say ) Oyah smell am...

KIDNAPPER 2 and 1

Laughed as they mock Jife. ( kidnapper 3 brought out Jife's phone from his pocket and show it to Jife and command him to open the phone and bring out the numbers of the people that can pay ransom on his head )

KIDNAPPER 3

Oyah open your phone and bring out any number of people wey you know say go fit bail you otherwise na to pkuf you straight and make sure say you no give us number of people wey go waste our time too.

( while he untired Jife's hands and handed the phone to him, then Jife collect the phone and started scrolling on his phone while his face was full of fears but the kidnappers was watching him very closely )

Scene 4 of Episode 5.

Kemute's Office/Day

Xtras, KEMUTE, BARRISTER ( Kemute's boss )

( Kemute was seen arranging documents inside his office, his phone was on top of the table when a call came in and he picked up his phone from the table and looked at it, it was Jife's number, so he picked but he was surprised that someone was talking to him with command instead of Jife's voice )

KEMUTE.

Hello Jife?

KIDNAPPER.

Wey you my friend no be Jife dey talk to you and make you listen to me very carefully and no mess up with me.

( Then Kemute begin to sense that something is wrong, although he was having some thoughts inside him what the matter could be as he removed the phone from his ears and then looked at it with surprise and then continues listening to the kidnapper as he continues )

KIDNAPPER.

I hope you dey listen to wetin I dey tell you?

KEMUTE.

am listening to you sir.

KIDNAPPER.

your brother Jife is under my custody and I dey give you within 48 hours if you no raise up to 2 million naira just ready to burial his body.

KEMUTE.

ah! Oga please I beg you don't kill him, but please sir are you a police? which offence did he commit?

KIDNAPPER.

oh so you think say na play I dey play with you abi? and make I warn you if I hear say you go involve ekelebe for this matter just know say even you sef go die, oyah make you confirm wetin I dey tell you ( while Jife's voice was literalling on the phone as cries for help while the Kidnapper continues ) you don hear am?

KEMUTE.

oh please sir, I am very sorry sir now I understand and I promise not to involve the police on this but please don't harm my brother am begging you sir, I will see what I can do to meet up to your demand

( And the call ended as he was still pleading with the kidnapper, Kemute became so confused and restless that he don't even know what to do, he started thinking what to do and who to call while he picked up his phone from the table where he angrily dropped it after the call between him and the kidnapper ended as he started scrolling down to his contacts, but all of a sudden an idea just ran into his mind to tell his Boss about what just happened )

Scene 5 of Episode 5.

Barrister's office/Day

Xtra, Kemute, barrister.

Camera while Kemute was seen knocking on his boss office door and he was commanded to come in, but his face looked very different and troubled )

BARRISTER.

Kemute is everything alright?

KEMUTE.

no sir there's problem and I am here to discuss it with you.

BARRISTER.

problem how? what kind of problem and is that why your face is like this, I never see you wearing this kind of look like this before, so can you tell me what it's?

( Kemute was full of fears and shivering all over his body his reactions speaks louder than words while he's still standing )

KEMUTE.

it's about my brother.

BARRISTER.

your brother? what about him, what's wrong with him ( while barrister begin to react troubled as well while he command Kemute to seat down and tell him everything ) okay can you at least seat down and tell me what happened to your brother.

( Kemute move forward as he had a seat but couldn't look at his boss eyes to eyes because felt what he was about to tell the barrister may border him too and shouldn't be his worries, but because of the pressure mounted on him by the barrister he should tell him what's going on )

KEMUTE

Okay sir, it's my brother Jife the one that just came from warri, I think he's been kidnapped.

BARRISTER.

JIFE your brother kidnapped? how come? by who? And what for? And who told you?

( barrister was asking Kemute so many questions at same time without getting any answer and became equally worried while Kemute tell's him the few details he know about Jife's kidnapping according to the conversation he had with the Kidnapper )

KEMUTE

well sir according to what the Kidnapper told me that I shouldn't involve the police.

BARRISTER.

and what did they say the want?

KEMUTE.

( Kemute paused for a while and responded ) Well sir he told me that I should raise up to 2 million naira within 48 hours otherwise they will kill my brother and if try to involve the police they will come for me too.

BARRISTER.

two million naira you said?

KEMUTE.

yes sir.

BARRISTER

two million naira at this hard time? are they stupid or what and why would the kidnap your brother, I never had of this before, so Kidnappers also kidnap poor people too are you sure this people are not mistaking your brother for another person?

KEMUTE.

sir I am equally confused here as you are.

BARRISTER.

so have you tried to call your brother's phone number?

KEMUTE.

yes sir, infact the Kidnapper used his line to call me but after he dropped the call I tried to call the line back but it's switched off.

BARRISTER.

then I think we need to report this matter to the police for investigations.

KEMUTE.

Oh sir please don't you think that would cause more harm, let's see if we can handle this matter without the police sir please because I am scared of my own life too.

BARRISTER.

don't worry nothing will happen to you, we will report the matter to the police but we will act with wisdom, and then we will continue to negotiate with them, or do you have the two million naira to offer to them?

KEMUTE.

no sir I don't have two million naira.

BARRISTER.

oh you see? so you wouldn't want anything to happen to your brother either?

KEMUTE.

yes sir I don't want anything to happen to him because if anything happens to him I will be blamed because everybody in his family is aware that I am the one he's living with here in Lagos, and some may think that I have used him for money ritual or something.

BARRISTER.

don't worry it won't get to extent of that, you know what, just go round up with what you are doing let's go the police station to make a report immediately.

KEMUTE.

okay sir, ( Kemute stood up from the seat where he was seating and left the room as the camera fade off ).

Scene 6 of Episode 5.

Police station/Day

Xtra, Kemute, Barrister, Police men ( women ).

Kemute and his boss Barrister was seen walking inside a police station, some police officers was seen moving about and some was busy taking reports and records at the canter section while Kemute and his boss ( barrister ) went straight into the D.P.O's office to make a report.

Scene 7 of Episode 5.

D.P.O's office/Day

Xtras KEMUTE, BARRISTER, D.P.O.

( Kemute and his Boss, the Barrister was seen shaking hands with the D.P.O while trying to have seats as D.P.O instructed them to have seats )

D.P.O.

The Barrister how are you?

BARRISTER

I'm doing well Mr Dpo, and how are doing too sir?

D.P.O.

well like as you can see I am not doing bad, and who's this young man with you, I hope all is well?

BARRISTER

well that's why we are here Mr Dpo, mean while this is my staff Kemute and there's this kidnapping case I want to make a report over his brother who just arrived to Lagos from warri just few days here.

D.P.O.

are you saying this young man here ( Dpo was referring to Kemute ) brother was kidnapped, since when?

BARRISTER.

yes his brother was kidnaped ( barrister turned to Kemute and instructed him to go ahead and narrate the story to the D.P.O. ) Oyah Kemute can tell D.P.O exactly everything you just told me and conversation between you and the Kidnappers.

KEMUTE

( turning to the D.P.O. for more explanations )

yes sir, this afternoon while I was trying to arrange some documents in my office a call came into my phone but that was my brother's number the one that was kidnapped, and by the time I tried to speak to him I started hearing another person's voice who later identify himself as a Kidnapper and he warned me never to involve the police after demanding for two million naira within 48 hours and went ahead to make a threat that if I make a mistake to involve the police they will kill my brother and also come for me, after since then I couldn't reach the number again, or even heard from my brother so that's why we are here sir.

D.P.O.

it's okay, what will happen is this, you people have to register this case now and I will send my boys around in search of they hidden places but we will continue getting in touch with you and more investigations will be carried out, I assure you, nothing will happen to your brother.

KEMUTE

okay sir, thank you very much.

BARRISTER

okay Mr D.p.o we will be going sir, I will write the statement at the Canter section as we are going out now.

D.P.O

Okay that will be better but I want you to tell those at the canter section to allow Inspector Emeka to handle the case.

BARRISTER.

( Barrister and the D.p.o had hand shakes while barrister and Kemute makes move to leave the office )

Scene 8 of Episode 5.

Police station/Canter section, Day.

Xtras, KEMUTE, BARRISTER, INSPECTOR EMEKA AND OTHER POLICE MEN ( WOMEN )

( Camera open at the police canter section where Kemute and barrister was discussing with inspector Emeka, while Kemute was explaining to Inspector Emeka over the kidnapped case while Inspector Emeka was busy taking record of what Kemute was saying )

INSPECTOR EMEKA

okay sir i am through so you have to sign here ( referring to Kemute, Kemute took the pen from inspector and signed )

KEMUTE

is that all?

INSPECTOR EMEKA.

yes you people can go.

( Kemute and His boss barrister was seen walking out of the police station )

Scene 9 of Episode 5.

Kemute's Resident/Public compound/Day.

Xtra, KEMUTE, DOLAPO, NICKY, PASTOR GABRIEL, LANDLORD, KEN, TOKYO.

( Kemute was seen returning back from work as he walks into the compound, but he appears very sad and tired, anyone can quickly notice that something is wrong with him and then pastor Gabriel was carrying Bible with him, who was about going out for evening service when he saw Kemute walking into the compound from distance very slowly while he looks very tired, so pastor Gabriel have to approach Kemute, but Kemute past by without noticing pastor Gabriel even when pastor Gabriel waved him for greetings Kemute didn't respond, simply because his thoughts was elsewhere, so pastor Gabriel turn to Kemute to find out if all is well )

PASTOR GABRIEL.

Hello Kemute you're welcome, how was work today?

( Kemute past by without any respond to Pastor Gabriel's greetings, pastor Gabriel turned back with mix feelings why Kemute refused to respond to his greetings, then he walk towards Kemute as he touched him from behind and say to him as he continues )

Kemute are you alright? I have been greeting you, it's unusual of you...

KEMUTE.

oh so sorry sir, I didn't notice you where talking to me.

PASTOR GABRIEL

( At this process NICKY was just passing by with an empty bucket to fetch some water when she overheard pastor Gabriel screaming Jife being kidnapped by who, and that drawn her attention as she dropped bucket she was carrying on the ground while she started walking closer to where pastor Gabriel and Kemute was standing while discussing to find out why pastor Gabriel was screaming Jife being kidnapped, so get closer and fold her hands with her mouths closed, ears was so wide opened eager to hear every details then she touched Kemute and ask )

Kemute please what's pastor Gabriel saying?

KEMUTE

exactly what you heard oh, it's Jife, he's been kidnapped.

NICKY

PASTOR GABRIEL

oh my God, you know what I think I just have to report this case to God this minutes ( pastor Gabriel started speaking in tongues )

( Nicky tried to snoop pastor Gabriel as she ignores him and tried to focus on Kemute while she faces Kemute to get more answers ) So how come, how did you know and what did they say the want?

they're demanding for two million naira.

( Pastor Gabriel and Nicky screamed at same time, two million naira???!!)

yes two million naira, that's what they said and that I need to raise the money within 48 hours otherwise they will kill him and if I involve the police they will come for me too.

My sister I have no idea oh, please let me go inside and remove my clothes first, ( Kemute walks off the camera, while Mr Landlord was seen walking towards where Pastor Gabriel and Nicky was still standing wondering why would Kidnappers chose to kidnap Jife, as Landlord get closer pastor Gabriel looked at him and say )

PASTOR GABRIEL

Landlord you see why I keep telling everyone in this compound to embrace God...

( getting closer to find out what pastor Gabriel was trying to say )

( At this time Ken and Tokyo was seen walking into the compound while both of them was arguing about Ken's infidelity attitude and then Landlord turn to watch them as they where approaching as started getting pissed off, that serious issue is on ground and while the both love birds was busy talking about cheating in they loud voices as both Ken and Tokyo get closer landlord paused while he stand with his hands on the waste as he starred at them, Mr Landlord who thought both Ken's and Tokyo's relationship is nothing but a waste of time relationship )

TOKYO.

Ken I am so disappointed , I never knew you were this bad, how can I be walking with you and you are busy looking at another woman?

KEN.

( Ken was pissed off how Tokyo was acting while they were almost too close where Mr Landlord, Nicky and pastor Gabriel was standing )

Oh please can you just stop, I am getting tired of this your nagging, and why are you always trying to disgrace me before people.

( Mr Landlord have to call Ken's and Tokyo's attention as they where approaching )

LANDLORD.

Heyss my friend ( referring to Ken and Tokyo ) Please can both of you come here, haven't you both heard what's going on and you are both here arguing about nonsense, disturbing us with your noise when we are here trying to find solution.

KEN.

( Ken turn to Nicky trying to find out what Mr Landlord was saying )

Please Nicky what's Mr Landlord is trying to say, did anybody die in the compound?

( Faces pastor Gabriel )

and why would they even kidnap someone that doesn't even have a job?

he just left here now to his room, he's the one that told us about it now, but I think we just need to start praying now.

( At this minutes everyone started moving out from middle of the compound to their rooms living pastor Gabriel behind )

Scene 10 of Episode 5.

Kemute's one room apartment/ Evening ( Night )

Xtra, KEMUTE, DOLAPO, EMEKA, PRISCA.

( Kemute was seen searching Jife's bag to check if there's anything or useful information he can get from Jife's bag so he can give to the Police for investigations, DOLAPO and Emeka who just returned from work started knocking at the door and DOLAPO stood up to open the door while he welcome them with greetings )

KEMUTE

DOLAPO.

bros, what where you telling me on phone? ( Dolapo asked Kemute )

KEMUTE

Na so e happen oh, they don kidnap JIFE oh.

EMEKA.

Bros how did you hear the news, who told you about this...

KEMUTE

Okay now that you're here have you seen JIFE here now? or haven't you called his number?

DOLAPO

I have been trying to call his number several times since after you told me this but I couldn't reach him.

EMEKA same here I have tried his number so many times but the line saying switched off.

DOLAPO.

But one thing I do not understand is why would they kidnap someone like JIFE, someone that doesn't even have a common job, someone we even feed, so Kidnappers also kidnap poor people too? ( Kemute started sounding like someone who is regretting why he invited JIFE to Lagos )

You see eh, in this Lagos eh if one is not wise all you could be getting is troubles all the time.

My brother I don't just understand, this guy JIFE particular keep landing himself in troubles all the time, I shouldn't have invited him to Lagos for the first place...

( As there where still arguing call came into Kemute's phone, and that's Jife's number as he pleaded Dolapo and Emeka to keep quiet while he quickly pick the call as he continues )

KEMUTE

Hello sir.

KIDNAPPER.

My money don ready, abi you wan make I come your house come collect am by myself?

KEMUTE.

( Kemute stammered out of fear but finally responded )

Yes sir I am trying to put the money together but you know the kind of country we are, is not that too easy for me to get two million naira within the short time you gave me, am still running around sir, and morever

that amount is too much sir please can you reduce it?

KIDNAPPER

( with his deep voice )

So how much you don get?

( Kemute stammered again while he looked at Emeka who was listening to the conversation between Kemute and the Kidnapper, and gave Kemute sign to tell the Kidnapper that he's able to get five hundred thousand naira but he will try to complete it one million naira before tomorrow runs out, which Kemute was able to grab the sign so he responded to the Kidnapper )

KEMUTE

ehm okay sir I have been able to get five hundred thousand naira but I want to try to complete it five hundred naira before tomorrow runs out.

KIDNAPPER.

Okay good boy, but don't forget the rules and don't fuck up with me or else...

( the call ended while Kemute was still trying to ask the Kidnapper how to reach him or where to meet him if he was able to get the complete money, so he tried to call the line again but at this time the line was already switched off, so he started getting more worried because he doesn't even have up to ten thousand naira not to talk of one million naira, at this time he started complaining again )

KEMUTE

oh God how did I get into this?

DOLAPO.

Please bros, stop this, you're acting as if you're all alone in this, we all are equally worried.

KEMUTE

Don't you know that if anything should happen to him now the family will come for me ...

( Emeka who always ask sensitive questions and bringing good ideas ask )

Since this matter started have you tried to inform your family or even Jife's people?

KEMUTE.

my dear I and my boss have already done that immediately I got the news, infact I just came back from the police station with my boss.

DOLAPO.

Okay since you have done that why can't you try to relax and allow the Nigeria police to do they job instead of getting too worried like this...

Nigeria police you say? you talk as if you don't know how Nigeria police behave in this country.

but I have heard of cases like thi where the victims was later rescued, I think all we need to do now is to pray to God and work with the police that's all.

DOLAPO

yes, I think you have a point here Emeka, we need to go to the police station very early tomorrow morning to report to them about the call you just received now and we may even stay there till they call again....

( As they were still talking, Prica Jife's female neighbor best friend started knocking and Dolapo stood up to open the door, while Prisca was still coming into the room she start throwing questions but looking at the three men's faces it was so obvious about what she heard that happened )
