The Conception of Education in the African Society

This is going to be a long read, but I promise that it is worth it!😉

What comes to mind when you hear education?🤷‍♀️

Where I’m from education means the four walls of  the university, education means going to the university and studying for four years to a earn a degree.

Hmmmmm... as far as I know, “Education is a knowledge about something”... anything

which may not necessarily involve even a

certificate or a document that certifies you for a particular study.

“A knowledge about something”... being educated doesn’t mean it would need to take 4 years or 7years to learn. Consequently, through out our journeys of life we keep learning, updating ourselves, keeping up to trends and even sharpening our skills.

In Africa’s system of learning it is believed that after the university years, there’s nothing else to know.

“Na only for Africa wey if you no go university, you no go school”... but lol😒😂

Hmmmm, the world has changed, ideas have evolved, ideas have become better, knowledge is being updated, and technology is advancing.

The point is... we should stop that thought or thinking that, the only time we are educated or fit to be called graduates is when we have passed through the four walls of the university.

Knowledge is not bound by the years studied or place studied.. knowledge is everywhere, knowledge is in everything.

Africans always beating themselves up because of the idea of not being properly educated because he or she didn’t go through the university. Permit me to let you know that they are several things that you can be educated about.
