Title: Overall a good handling of the subject matter, but awkward on kindle.

Review: I feel like the author did a good job of handling these topics and keeping up-to-date on current issues that face people at different life stages, as well as recent research that illuminates these topics. However, I read this book on my kindle paperwhite, and I had 2 issues with the formatting.
1.) Whenever tables or graphs were presented, they were pretty useless in black and white, because they were formatted to be presented in color, so there was no telling which was the 'red line' being referenced in the text. A formatting change to make these graphs have contrast to work in a black and white reader would make these supplementary graphs and charts much more useful.
2.) The answers to the end of section questions were always at the end of the chapter, not below the questions being asked, and by the time I got to the end of the chapter, I couldn't remember what the question was. The end of chapter just has a list of answers, and it might be a single letter from a multiple choice question. These answers should immediately follow the questions themselves, and because they did not, I stopped reading these questions entirely about half-way through the book, which made the material less effective for memory retention, as I was not practicing what I just learned.

Overall, the author did a good job of writing this book, and the material was thoughtfully researched.

Review: This is an excellent textbook, it explores more contemporary problems and feels up to date. I have had to mostly teach myself in my developmental psychology course, and this textbook has guided me really well. It is detailed while not being too wordy which I appreciate!

Review: Received this book and it came with the bottom of the book all bang up and pages look like it's shredded. If I turn to the back of the book to use the index I feel as if the book is going to fall apart. Other then that I must and have to use the book for my psychology book but I won't even rent from here again.

Review: I bought this for my Kindle - it was really easy to read and navigate, and it also made studying really easy because of the search feature on Kindle books. I loved this! Another perk - this saved me about 100$ that I would have wasted needlessly on a paper textbook. Do yourself and the environment a favor, buy kindle books!

Title: Clearly opinionated, leaves me wondering where the facts are.

Review: Horrible textbook. Not only does the author cite outdated research but there’s so much opinion in the book. Rather than teaching development, it’s clear that this author wanted to teach people to think exactly like her. The personal stories are unnecessary and belong in a biography, not a text book. The author’s negative attitudes towards the poor, the overweight, minorities, and the lgbtq community are poorly disguised. There is a great need for a more up to date textbook on this material written by someone with the ability to keep personal opinions separate from fact. The inclusion of an image of overweight people eating lunch, clearly taken without their knowledge with a caption inviting us to make judgements about them based on their size blows me away. This author is clearly out of touch with current research studies (HAES) and encouraging bias attitudes. Worst text book I’ve come across so far. I can’t believe this made it past editors and into the school systems. Yes the authors attitudes may be subtle to some, but to anyone empirically minded, this book is outrageous.
