Ukraine claims to break through Russia's 'tough' resistance

After a long wait, Ukraine launched a counterattack against Russian troops last June with Western weapons. Even after two months, they did not see the expected results in this campaign. However, a commander of the Ukrainian army claimed that they were able to break through the most difficult resistance of the Russian forces in the south. Now they can move towards it at a faster speed.

Russian troops dug trenches and planted mines across a wide area before launching a counteroffensive in Ukraine. And these mines are the biggest obstacle for Ukrainians. The commander claimed with the Reuters news agency that they were able to cross the mine-buried area.

Ukrainian troops said on Wednesday they had raised the Ukrainian flag again in Robotene in the southern Zaporizhia region. Which is located 10 kilometers south of the battle front town of Orikhiv. Besides, they claimed success in Mala Tokmakha village as well.

"We will not stop here," said the commander who led the Ukrainian troops in Robotene. Our next target is the city of Bardians… more on that later. I made it clear to my fighters: our target is not Robotene. Our target is the Azov Sea.

About breaking through Russia's toughest resistance, the Ukrainian commander said, "We crossed the main road where there were mines." We are coming to the lines where we can move forward. I am sure we can move forward quickly from here.

He said Ukrainian troops have now entered areas where "only Russian logistics groups" were. He claims that he never thought that it would be difficult to break the resistance of Russia.

A commander told Reuters, "We are moving forward to liberate all our territories."
