The Commissioner for Sports Development, Honorable Agnes Atsu, embarked on a tour of the J. A. Agba Memorial Stadium in Obudu today, marking a significant moment for sports enthusiasts and stakeholders in the region. The visit underscores the commitment of His Excellency, Prince Bassey Edet Otu's People First's resolve at enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering development in the sporting arena.

The situation in the picturesque town of Obudu, the J. A. Agba Memorial Stadium stands as a beacon of sporting excellence and community engagement. Named in honor of a revered figure in the Obudu, the stadium serves as a vital hub for various sporting activities, including football, athletics, and recreational pursuits.

Honorable Agnes Atsu's tour of the stadium signifies a proactive approach by the government to assess the state of sports infrastructure and explore opportunities for improvement. As the Commissioner for Sports Development, her visit aims to gain firsthand insights into the needs and challenges facing the facility, with a view to implementing strategic interventions for its enhancement.

During the tour, Honorable Atsu conducted a comprehensive inspection of the stadium's facilities, including the playing field, spectator stands,the Dressing/Changing Rooms and other amenities. She engaged with stadium management and community representatives to gather feedback on current operations and identify areas for improvement. The Commissioner frowned at fact that the changing rooms of the stadium have been converted to other usages and promised to engage with the local government Holga to see that things are put in proper perspectives.

In her interactions with stakeholders, Honorable Atsu reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to sports development in the region. She emphasized the importance of investing in modern infrastructure, promoting grassroots participation, and discovery/nurturing talent across various disciplines. The Commissioner reiterated the government's pledge to support initiatives aimed at fostering a vibrant sports culture and promoting healthy lifestyles among citizens.

Building on the insights gained from the tour, the Commissioner outlined a series of planned initiatives to revitalize the J. A. Agba Memorial Stadium and enhance its capacity. These initiatives include infrastructure upgrades, building of training pitches for other sporting activities apart from football, facility maintenance programs, training workshops for athletes and coaches, and partnerships with private sector stakeholders to drive sustainable development.
