Title: Great Cookbook

Review: When I first bought this cookbook I had no notion of the connection to the meal kit plan until I read the introduction (yes I am the weirdo who will read the cookbook cover to cover). I wish there were some more pictures as others have described, but overall this is a pretty good cookbook that focuses on meals that are familiar to most people, with a few extras. This is probably the book I've tried the most recipes in, and I have not found one that I disliked. I also enjoyed the option of switching things around depending on what is in season, when you would get the freshest and most flavorful vegetables. I actually use a chart and tailor lots of recipes that way.

Things I've tried: the potato soup. The baked chicken, with some changes in seasoning/stuffing (I've actually taught two different people how to cook chickens based on this recipe), homemade croutons (which a coworker asked for the recipe and about a year later told me she still makes batches for family functions) tuna poke bowl, and the chimichurri sauce.

Title: Needs More Pictures

Review: The recipes so far have all been great, and the variety of options with the seasonal vegetables and leftovers are a great way to switch things up, but most of the recipes have pictures that just show what vegetables go with it or random pictures of the food before it's been cooked. The lamb kofta recipe just shows a picture of someone's hands in a pile of raw, ground lamb. I know what ground lamb looks like, guys. What I don't know is what kofta look like and if it looks good enough to try. We eat with our eyes first, which they obviously know because their meal service has gorgeous pictures of all of the meals.

Title: My favorite cookbook

Review: Great cookbook.

For those of us with emotionally abusive spouses who expect dinner as soon as they arrive, this is the key. Plated outlines staples to have in your pantry at the beginning of the cookbook. All you need to do is grab some meat and vegetables over the weekend and you can cook anything in here. Our favorites are the rosemary chicken, spaghetti squash and turkey burgers. I've also picked up a lot of dressings/rubs/marinades that are go to's for me now.

If I can get home an hour before my wife, I know with Plated I can get a great dinner on the table before she arrives. With other cookbooks, it just wouldn't be ready and I would be subject to debilitating psychological violence.

I also subscribe to Plated. Love them.

Review: Just received this book. Haven't had the chance to make anything yet, but I have gone through the entire book. This is a great book for the beginner and seasoned chef. The instructions are easy to follow. I have no professional training but I do love to cook. There aren't step by step pictures with the recipes, which some complain about. However, the instructions are very clear and concise. I had no problem understanding them. There are a bunch of helpful tips and tricks in the beginning! G

Review: I have ordered from the Plated food order kit and enjoyed the meals. I was expecting the cookbook to be similar to the cards that you receive with the food in the kits. Nothing could have been further from reality. This is a cookbook, period. And I found it to be a little hard to follow and hard to use. I did not particularly like the index. Finding recipes is harder than it should be. I bought this to use for meal prepping for the caregivers for my elderly in-laws thinking I could photo copy the recipes if they were like the cards with the meal kits - no such luck. If you are looking simply for a cookbook, maybe you would like this, but don't expect it to be anything like the Plated recipes you get with the kits.

Review: I love this cookbook! I've made over a dozen recipes from it so far and every one has been a hit! I'm typically cooking for 1-2, and having a book full of recipes that I don't have to commit to for a week has been great. The recipes also scale nicely - I've taken a couple from the first section and made x1.5 in order to use a a whole pack of meat and they still come out great! The seasonal swaps are nice as well - I love how flexible it makes the recipes. The recipes are very straightforward, easy to read through, and easy to find the ingredients for at the grocery store. Excellent purchase!

Review: Awesome cookbook. I've been subscribing to Plated for the last few months and enjoy their recipes, so I decided to try the cook book. I love fine dining and appreciate the recreation of that in a simplified manner for nightly dinners. I have a family with two toddlers, so I don't have time to be all fancy, but these kind of recipes make it possible to create something delicious and different without all the fuss. I love that it inclides cocktails, a thanksgiving menu, dinner party menu, and make ahead items. Seems to cover all the bases.

Title: Not the Plated I remember

Review: I have been a Plated subscriber and I loved their recipes especially the layout of their recipe cards. I saved every recipe card I received and still use them to make meals. When I found out that Plated was coming out with a cookbook I was excited. I thought it would be recipes in the same format/layout as their recipe cards but it's not.

It's like a regular cookbook with a list of ingredients and a bunch of steps with minimal pictures. Nothing really sets it apart from any other cookbook. The recipes are ok. Nothing really catches my eye.One of the only positives I can think of is that it has relatively common ingredients.
