advocacy for removing hair policy in school
On September 8, 2022, Mela Habijan, a transgender Filipina, discusses a report she received about a teacher who cut a student's hair in class. Every student has the right to feel comfortable and accepted in their educational environment. The school should encourage equality and respect students personal identities. Hair policies in school should not discriminate against every student based on gender or cultural background. It is important to create an environment where every student can freely express themselves through their hairstyles and feel comfortable with their identity. It is important to support students regarding with their decision in their lives and we should support them in how they could feel comfortable and feel supported. Moreover, many individuals think there is no connection between a student's hair and their academic success. For this reason, we are bringing up this advocacy in order to help kids achieve their goals and how they want to be.
