Title: Disappointing

Review: The book is not about WIFI availability in various locations. The book is aimed at people who do not want to work a regular job and want to get by from day to day doing temporary jobs (for example, baby sitting) while they travel. I was disappointed by the content of this book, sometimes offended by her thoughts (putting down people who work 9 to 5 jobs, all men with sweeping generalizaion, people who pay for cable), and surprised by the positive reviews this book received.

Review: I've been a digital nomad for almost six months now, so much of the material in this book was already familiar territory for me, but it was all solid, in depth advice. The sections on health, self-care, and the like were definitely super useful to me, though- these things can definitely be a struggle for digital nomads. The biggest takeaway for me, however, was the conviction that I should be taking a lot more risks in my explorations.

Title: Want to Be a World-Traveling Nomad?

Review: If you have ever considered traveling the world or living in a foreign country (not just as a tourist), this book gives not only one woman's personal story, but her personal hints, tips, and tricks learned from a life living and working on the road. The book is well organized. The first section is about being just a regular nomad, either volunteering or find work in other countries. The bulk of the book is about being a digital nomad, whether as a freelancer, an entrepreneur, or working remotely for a company. The author has set up several businesses that have allowed her to add to her bank account while still enjoying travel around the world. I like how she interweaves her personal experiences with the tips, techniques, and the knowledge you need if you are going to consider this kind of lifestyle. Before you book your first plane ticket for the new nomad life you envision for yourself, I recommend reading this book to get a sense of what it is really like as well as some ideas that will help you make the transition more smoothly.

Review: This book includes a wealth of resources at the end, and the first half of the book was filled with useful information presented in a light, humorous tone. I really enjoyed reading the helpful tips about ideas for becoming a digital nomad, how to finance travelling, and places to stay. After approximately the first half, however, the book focused more on the authors experiences and complaints than anything else. If the book ended before then, I would have rated it higher. Some people may enjoy those stories, but reading about someone else's experiences (especially when it does not offer any useful information to use for my own experiences) is not my thing.

Review: This is a great little book, full of very practical information about how you can travel and work at the same time. As well as being packed with tips and advice, the book tells a lot of Kayla's own story, how she overcame chronic illness to run two successful businesses and travel the world. I liked the personal chapters on travelling solo as a female and also on her personal pet hates about travellers - very funny! I also learned a word I didn't know - begpacking, which I think is hilarious!

Great information on how to get started, how to make a living while traveling, and how to manage details mixed with delightful travel stories that left me wishing for more. The resource section is helpful, as are the tips throughout the book. The author's voice and casual writing style make a quick read and valuable resource.
