Title: Great on its own but you still need to supplement.

Review: I preferred this study guide over the official study guide. It's much more concise and explains concepts in easy to digest language. The book is a few years old at this point, but while technology changes, the core of security mindset really hasn't changed much. Use this book in conjunction with a more recent video course and you'll be in great shape to pass your exam.

Review: I also have the official (ISC)2 book and the Shon Harris one. This is much easier to read and understand, and does not have the fluff of the other books.
With the domain refresh of May 2021 this book is now 2 refreshes out of date. However, the CBK has really not changed that much. I passed first time with this book.
The only thing to watch out for is the sample questions - they are nothing like the real exam, which will also find your weaknesses and home in on them with laser-like precision...

Review: I used Eric Conrad's CISSP Study Guide along with the CISSP course from Cybrary to pass on my first attempt. For testing, I found the Official Study Guide (and practice questions) to be horrible so I used the CISSP Pocket Prep app, which helped me to focus on the areas that I needed the most work on.

Overall, this book is on-point and concise, which overcomes the problem of information overload that I found with the Shon Harris book and Official CISSP Study guide. Pay attention to the questions at the end of each chapter as they are relevant to the exam. Don't expect the exact questions you will see on the exam, but it provides the core concepts so you can pass the exam.

I took off one start because there were a few concepts missing in this book that were on the exam. Kelly Handerhan's superb videos filled in the gaps. I only found questions that referenced material I wasn't familiar with, which I have to chalk up to a test question.

Review: If you're looking for a concisely "no-fluff" written guide for the exam. Look no further. What this book lacks in word count it 100% makes up for it with streamlined content. Kudos to the author! This is my go-to book for CISSP information and not a doctoral thesis.

Review: It worked for my wife, who has a background in programming and as a software architect. As the test has a lot more questions on networking, a topic which she doesn't have any work experience with, I consider that a great recommendation.

Review: Worked as expected. I read it and several other study guides... they all contain little bits of information that a different from other resources. Multiple resources are a must if you want to pass this test the first time.

Review: The value is in reading alongside the CBK ISC2 Main Textbook to notice how much further in depth the Study Guide provides for a more in depth understanding. You might be able to get over just buying this book but I recommend reading both simultaneously. They are in the same order of domains.
