My Worst Day

1. Introduction

In several single spoken form, this describes how bad things can happen to good people. We can all identify problems, which incorporate losing a job, relational breakdown, personal physical injury, and many other issues. I am no exception to this unfortunate characteristic of human life, and this vivid aspiration constitutes my worst day, a story very personal to me. Its hardships I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, and its profound emotional effect, I am always able to draw empathy from when I delve deep into the innermost caverns of my memory. I am currently faced without a family car for several months, and since that day, cars and their purpose now hold a significantly different appeal to me. This may not have been my worst day when comparing the content of the story to past stories, but the magnitude of the event most definitely makes it my worst day.

1.1. Definition of a "Worst Day"

For example, in the film 'The Railway Man', Eric Lomax describes his worst day as a POW of the Japanese and subsequent POW punishment by the Thai. He recalls, "Lying on the pile of straw in the jungle hut, I felt that I was lower than any human being had ever been. I knew I had just lost my humanity. To have slithered into the status of pathetic beast was too degrading to contemplate, but in reality, that was the role to which the jungle had reduced me. It had become a dark, slave world where sign of weakness was pounced upon and exploited." This contrasts heavily with another day in Lomax's later life in which he was made a fool of on his wedding day by his best friends rehearsing a lewd wedding night story and saying it in Thai. The difference is this incident affected Lomax's life greatly but in a funny way and he ended up being thankful for it later in life.

The worst day is not necessarily the one that has the most negative effect on us, but rather the one in which the balance of positive and negative effects is most negative. Some events may have terrible consequences but for the most part, they rank as better than other salient periods in our memory. Also, a worst day is not necessarily the same as a bad day. It is possible to have a day that is mostly good with one bad event which makes the day worse than an awful day that has one good incident.
