NEW YOUTH AND SPORTS' COMMISSIONER, HON. ANGO, RESUMES, PROMISES TO WORK FOR PROGRESS OF THE STATE

The newly-appointed Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango(Marafan Yakanaje Uke), resumed at his duty post on Wednesday morning, with a promise to work assiduously to ensure that the State attains higher heights in youth and sports development.

The Commissioner who arrived the Ministry a few minutes past 8am, was received by the Permanent Secretary, Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, alongside Directors of the Ministry.

The Management Members expressed their desire to cooperate with the new Commissioner while in the Ministry.

At a closed door meeting with the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the Ministry, Hon. Ango appreciated and acknowledged them, and promised to create a level playing ground for all in order to actualize the aims and objectives of the Ministry.

"I am new here, but rest assured that I will synergize with you, especially the Permanent Secretary, to ensure that we do all we can to ensure that Governor Abdullahi Sule succeeds in his administration.

"In this life, no one knows tomorrow. Whatever you are doing, do it wholeheartedly.

"I am easy-going and can also be very hard, especially if things are not going the right way.

"I know a lot of you personally, and with time, we will all get to know each other very well.

"Let's strive even harder to do more for the sake of our constituents and State in general.

"We know where our problems lie, and we must go the extra mile to justify the purpose of our being here, and this requires us working together as a formidable team."

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary told the new Commissioner that they have been working as a team, and that they are willing to give him(Commissioner) the needed support to succeed.

He disclosed that he shared many things in common with the new Commissioner, describing him as "an astute politician, partner in progress, administrator par excellence and a round peg in a round hole having been a lover of youth and a sports personality."

Danladi assured that the Ministry which deals with mostly young people will continue to rally support for the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration and anyone who is assigned to the Ministry to excel.

"We sincerely and warmly welcome you officially as the political head of this Ministry.

"We assure of you of deep commitment and loyalty and the Government of Nasarawa State.

"We are your lieutenants. We believe you will lead us as the soldier ants do. The entire Management and Staff are ready to work to get the desired results.

The Permanent Secretary, after briefing and presenting the hand-over note to the Commissioner, later took him round offices within the Ministry's premises.

Recall that Hon. Ango who hails from Uke, Karshi Development Area of Karu Local Government Area, was nominated on 28th July, 2023, screened and cleared on 1st August, 2023, by the State's House of Assembly, and inaugurated on August 14th, 2023, at the Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, alongside fifteen other Commissioners, by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Until his recent appointment, the new Commissioner held the post of Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Lands during the first tenure of the Governor. He was also one-time Chairman of Karshi Development Area, and Permanent Member, Universal Basic Education Board, Nasarawa State, among others.
