ADVICE and ADVISE 🤷
✍️
Although the two words are similar in their spellings and sounds, they are not identical and should not be used as such. While the formal is a noun which means “a thing," the later is a verb which means "an action." Yet, the two words can be distinguished by their distinct spellings and sounds.
While the formal has letter “C" in the spelling, its first syllable stressed, and ends with the sound /s/ as in ADvice /ədˈvʌɪs/; the later has letter "S" in the spelling, its second syllable stressed, and ends with the sound /z/ as in adVISE /ədˈvʌɪz/.
For example, someone can ADVISE you, but can only give you an ADVICE.
ADVICE
1. At this juncture, I need 'advice from an expert.✔️
2. She likes to seek my 'advice on any matter.✔️
3. The principal ominously mentioned that we should heed his 'advice.✔️
ADVISE
1. In every society, some men are born to rule, and some to ad'vise.✔️
2. I am here to ad'vise you, friend.✔️
3. I ad'vise you to stop smoking.✔️
COMBINATION
1. I always ad'vise people never to give wrong 'advice.✔️
2. If you ad'vise someone, you are giving him/her 'advice.✔️
NOTE: As stated above that ADVICE is a noun, ADVICED/ADVICING never exist in English. You can only write ADVISED and ADVISING as the past and continuous forms of ADVISE respectively.🙌
