Troubled Waters

The first time I heard about waters in the bible was in Genesis when the Lord moved upon the waters. I am sure we heard about waters again after that, but the next time I took waters to heart was in Psalms 23, when David said “God leads him beside still waters” and, we saw Jesus in the boat with his disciples calming troubled waters and in Isaiah, he assured us that the waters will not overwhelm us, in 2 Samuel 22:17, we saw the Lord draw David out of deep waters.

Now, we have a lot of scriptures that point to the fact that God can and desires to bring us out of every troubled water.

But what if there is healing, miracles, and all inside troubled waters?

We have seen Christ Jesus calm storms, and we have seen his promises for us even amid troubled waters, but what if our pruning, molding, and making processes lie deep inside these troubled waters?

This is not the usual “you have to suffer before you make it talk” (Even though you must go through a process that you may tag as ‘suffering’, healing can spring forth from troubled waters.

John chapter 5 tells us the story of a pool called Bethesda where a great multitude of sick, hurting, bruised individuals lay, waiting for the moving (troubling, stirring) of the water.

If healing only happened in still waters, why do they have to wait for the water to be troubled?

The water was still and it was not the solution to their problem, they needed it to be troubled

A man waited 38 years for the waters to be troubled until Jesus showed up to break that protocol.

Jesus can break the protocol, he can calm the waters, he can stop them from even raging in the first place, and he can lead you beside still waters all your days.

But, even in the troubled waters, there can be healing and nourishing for your soul.

Go through it knowing that the waters cannot overwhelm you, remember He will swim the deepest oceans just to reach you; He will draw you out and if He doesn’t save you right now, rejoice in the truth that these waters CANNOT overwhelm you.

Someone asked, “Lord, why do you take me through troubled waters?" He replied, "Your enemies cannot swim.” Your ego, unbelief, pride, etc cannot survive the pruning that troubled waters bring.

Stay there

There is healing, even in troubled waters.
