We are living in an age where:
· One’s identity is assessed by your Social Media presence
· The number of ‘likes & loves’ to your post is your scorecard for societal acknowledgement
· There is infinite acknowledgement to meaningful messages
· There is a deluge of Poster messages on ‘how to’ about Life
· So many positive messages that pass through our phone screens
I experience that
· My brain is actually getting heated up
· Somewhere within me ‘a huge, long to-do list’ is getting stacked up
· I have become a virtual judge of sorts, giving my verdict on ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, ‘good or bad’
· I have to belong to one side or the other on any subject, be it Economics, American elections, Indian Politics.. ‘either you are with me or against me!’
· I am struggling to get my mind to get the space to think positively about the world around me
· I have a challenge in reflecting about myself and how I should make myself more productive and happy
Does the above strike a chord with you?
I am doing a mandated ‘Me-time’ workshop with myself amidst the cacophony of all the above challenges…. I would like to share the outcome that I have been experiencing:
· Identify the distractions in my life ie.,my social media time, the pop-ups on my phone, TV news, newspapers, casual whatsapp group arguments debates on subjects that I have never known about in the past etal
· Do a sense check on the exact value that these distractions have brought to your life or how these have actually helped
