By the mid-1660s, Albert had taken a wife, Cornelia Quackenbush, a daughter of a Beverwyck brickmaker, and the couple soon became Albany householders, nurturing a large family with at least twelve children.

Albert was not just a family man, but a skilled brewer, touted as the most illustrious Albany brewmaster of the late 17th century. With the Ryckman Brewery established in 1686, Albert became a prominent supplier of beer, catering to clients like the fort and the Dutch church, where he frequently offered his brews for funerals and other events. Located riverside, his house and brewery lined the east side of present-day Broadway.
