My Travel Experience

I've always wanted to travel since I was a child. I enjoy discovering new areas and explore them thoroughly. In the future, all I want to do is travel to new locations. I wish to travel and discover new places. Most individuals believe they were born this way, while others believe they have to discover their inner adventurer. I emerged from the womb with a map and a wish list of places to visit in this planet. If I had to pick a favorite vacation, it would be discovering the sunsets in every region of Indonesia. For me, walking in an enchanted forest is 10 times more enjoyable than shopping.Sure, beach diving and snorkeling are wonderful, but I'd rather just admire the beach and its sunset. Many people believe I got it from growing up in a family full of guys, but then I tell them I have sisters and nieces. There is no other way to describe my intense interest in adventure and travel other than to say that it is simply who I am.
I'm not sure when my first encounter with my extreme explorer personality was, but I do know that it was very early on. Even when I was just 7 or 8 years old I was climbing trees and exploring not so big rivers near my house and here was where I learned what it means to explore. I loved it, and I dragged my cousin around with me to explore as well. Although, he was not just as excited as me we still thought it fun to play football in the backyard.

Back when I was 11, I went to a local heritage near my home. It was fun and entertaining because it is located uphill yet the building are part of this Country’s heritage. It is located in Kaligua, Paguyangan, Brebes. Kaligua is a highland agro-tourism area located in Pandansari-Paguyangan, Brebes Regency Central Java. Managed by PTP Nusantara IX (Persero), which one of its aims is to optimize the company assets by carrying the beautiful of nature.

The temperature there could reach 4-120C during droughts and 8-220C during  wet seasons. Surrounded by many trees, Kaligua serves super fresh air and beautiful evergreen. There’s a beautiful spot you can visit when you’re in Kaligua. The Sakub hill. Located 2.050 MASL, you’ll experience a colder temperature. If you came from a lowland with hot temperature, jacket or coat will be very useful up here. From the top of the hill,  you can enjoy beautiful view of  sea of tea trees just as far as you can see.

There is an old tea factory which is still active until today. It was established by a dutchman. According to Handboek voor Cultuur en Handelsondernemingen in Nederlandsche Indië (J.H. De Bussy), In 1889, De Jong started cultivating ancient plants, then followed by planting tea in 1895/ 1896. In 1896 De Jong was appointed as administrator, with the firm name John Peet & Co (Office in Kali Besar Barat in Batavia) representing NV Culture Onderneming.

Some machines are still authentically standing in the middle of the factory. However, there were some renovation projects on some parts of the factory due to workers safety. Tourist can also learn how they process the tea from how it’s washed  till it’s burned and mashed then packed to sell.

Other than this old factory, there is also a cave built by Japanese colonial.  This cave became an evidence of how Japanese took over Dutch territory. Goa Jepang is a cave with a depth of up to 850 meters, with several rooms in it, such as court, jail, and even slaughter chamber.

After about 5 to 6 years of that we took a family trip to Jogjakarta in the summer after fourth grade. I was honestly just excited to fly and get to go all the way to other side of the country. The first couple days were fun, we went to hunt some street foods and beverages so they were both city days. However, the last days was spent in somewhere full of beach where we watch how beautiful yet dangerous the wave was, and I don't think a smile ever left my face. We ran into many different and interesting types of wildlife that added even more to the trip. I was always in the front going fast and strong, the whole way, I had to be the first to see everything or else it wouldn’t be the same. This was my first major hiking trip I had taken, and it got me hooked for life. Now I go on a hiking trip almost every spring and fall with my cousins and nephews and every time whether it’s a one mile incline or it’s pouring rain, I am still having the time of my life.
In conclusion, I haven’t traveled all that much, however, that amount I have, I have used in a way to explore everything in sight. I have gone on several hiking trips, some just hiking and others more than that, but every time was the best. I absolutely love exploring, traveling and learning about other cultures. I have such any interest in every single one of these things and wish I can apply them to my future job some day. Although, I am only an unemployed college student, I am already looking into my future that will soon be right around the corner. I am ready to find out what I want to be as long as it has something to do with these three things. They are what I enjoy the most, and don’t think I could ever live without them. Exploring is my favorite, but can never be successful without traveling to new places, and traveling is the best way to learn about other cultures. Therefore, these things go hand in hand, and are definitely a huge and important part of my future, hopefully.
