Story of a distraught woman

My name is Antonia , and  I am a        thirty two year old wife and mother of three adorable kids .

Not too long ago my marriage to my child hood and later on , class mate sweet heart was a perfect illustration of bliss . And that was before I let my unbridled rage and crass vindictiveness destroy a home I laboured for ten years to build. How could I have believed that Kenneth was capable of being unfaithful ? He was and had been a perfect gentleman. He never smoked , nor took alcoholic beverages. He never had time for girls ( or so I believed untill that eventful Friday.)  I had inadvertently bumped into my husband in a far end of the rear of our compound . He was having what was incontrovertibly a romantic phone conversation with whoever the lady on the other end was . What amazed me most was the excitement both in his voice and on his face . I could not figure out fast the last time I noticed such looks in Ken's face . We probably were one or two years into our marriage or the days of our courtship !  I had tolerated my husband's unromantic attitude . As we  both rose in rank in  our respective careers , I had come to accept that we have much  more better interests to pursue than sex and romance . How wrong I was !  We probably had sex one or two times in a month and almost invariably, I would initiate . And so we continued to be less intimate unknown to me . Let me bring back the event in our backyard. ( The phone conversation) My husband swiftly and smartly deflected my curiosity and convinced me that there was nothing to that conversation . She was one of his nieces . And they were fond of each other . She called to tell him she had won a scholarship. Bla bla . Poor me . I believed my husband hook line and sinker ! I could swear with my head ,  Ken has no time for games  Odeburuku ! 

 It was on the 14th day of the month of February -  on a  Friday . We were reclining on couches  in the balcony after a family meal . I was feeling sleepy or tired or even both. I had Juliet , my house keeper  -  take the kids to their rooms to enable my husband and I catch some nap . No one rests in the house except Tricia ,  my youngest child was asleep . Trish can be troubleshooting especially if you had and important task to do or a rest to catch . But she is cute and adorable and always mumy's favorite anyways !  

I must have slept off soon after the balcony was cleared of potential distractions . The ringing tone of my husband's phone seemed to ring into my ears from another planet . The ringing persisted untill it was loud enough to wake me up . Oh my God ! How I hate to  be awoken in mid sleep . My husband was no longer on the couch ! " Honey you have a call "  I said , still not yet fully awake  . I got up ready to pick the call if the phone rang again . What I heard next was a buzz , the message tone . Out of a pressing curiosity I reached for the phone and opened the inbox to read a short text that sounded to my ear like a thunderbolt! " Baby ,why have you kept me waiting for this long ?" I read the text for more than a hundred times in a few minutes . I have never been this mad in all my life ! Who is ' Baby ? "  The sender's name was saved in the phone book as " My sweet niece " My entire body convulsed . My heart pounded as though a black smith was working on a stubborn metal . The phone dropped out of my hand once or twice . I was gradually going berserk ! My husband was still down stairs . I tried to steady my self so I could think clearly. First , I forwarded the text to my phone . Next line of action would be to confront my husband . Another would be to get my hands around the neck of the ugly bitch ! But one thing was settled in my mind - somebody must meet their ancestors today  . It could be me , Kenneth or that stinking whore of a niece .

' Kenneth, who is she ? "  I thundered . Couldn't believe my own voice again. ' Baby who is who '   " Eh eh , Don't you ever baby me now ! When was the last time you called me baby in this house?"    " Take me to that bitch now "  Like a demented person I rushed into my husband's room and straight to his wardrobe. Rushed back to the  balcony, and venue of the drama clutching my husband's pistol. Soon my husband was all over me trying to wrestle the weapon off my hands . A heavy thud on the stone -  tiled floor and here am I . The deep and clear baritone of the judge seemed to below and echoe round the court room rousing me from my reverie. I instinctively took a sight tour on the seat rows . My mother sat on the front row adjacent the convict box . Her eyes were swollen and she looked lost . My children clutched on her on both sides ..Trish was sleeping peacefully in her  arms . Poor Trish !  I felt a rush of  tears . I tried to wipe my tears with my hands but quickly recalled  the  handcuffs won't let me .
