...ICT Centre to boost economic growth, innovation, and social progress in Nigeria says Rev. Otu. Rev.Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, The Wife of Governor, Cross River State has hailed collaboration between the Renewed Hope Initiative and NITDA, saying its aim to equip ICT centers, like the one at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), to empower women and girls through technology is a laudable feat.

Speaking at the commissioning event Her Excellency, Sen. Olumeri Tinubu, The First Lady of Nigeria, represented by Mrs. Unoma Godswill Akpabio, Wife of the Senate President stated that the establishment of the ICT Centre is a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities and technological advancement in Cross River State for women and the entire State in line with prevailing realities.

She further praised the ingenuity of the First Lady and the proactiveness of NITDA for this initiative which she said will be a potential to bridge the gap between government, industry, and academia, fostering research and innovation in ICT. Also speaking, Mr.Justin Beshel, The Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology highlighted the importance of ICT in education and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of the Digital Economy Centre in shaping the future workforce.

The Vice Chancellor of the University acknowledged that the impact of the donation, foreseeing a transformation into a hub of academic excellence and technological innovation. The handover ceremony, attended by wives of federal legislators and various dignitaries, celebrates the milestone achievement and underscores the importance of technology in education and economic development.

Rev.Eyoanwan Otu together with the entourage proceeded to The College of Health Technology, Moore Road Calabar in the same vein to commission a Solar and Free Internet Infrastructure for students of the institution that will aid the ease of study and access to uninterrupted power and internet connection.
