Human Right Advocate and legal practioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has dragged a young lady known as Pearl Maame Ekua to court over an allege blackmail and extortion of huge sums of cash from the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Hostel Company Limited, Dr Kwame Ampofo Kusi.

Per the court document, thus, the writ of summons, Pearl Maame Ekua, who is the Internal Auditor of Ghana Hostel and once a concubine to Dr Kwame Ampofo extorted GHC 80,000 from the CEO as a result of the threat to publish their sexual relationship to the media and the Board.

Such an unwarranted action taken by Pear Maame Ekua, the Acting Internal Auditor of Ghana Hostel Company depicted a strong act of blackmail and extortion gingered Lawyer Maurice Ampaw and plaintiff Dr Kwame Ampofo Kusi of House Number GM-127-5910 ( Hamiton Street, Pantang -Accra to file such a suit.

The suit is requesting for a refund of the GH¢80,000.00 given to Defendant ( Pearl Maame Ekua) by Plaintiff ( Dr Kwame Ampofo Kusi ) and general damages for breach of confidence of their sexual relationship.

Also, the suit serves as a perpetual order to restrain the Defendant, agent, privies, representatives from continuous blackmailing of Plaintiff with the threat of using their sexual relationship as a tool to extort money from

Statement of Claim

1.The Plaintiff ( Dr Kwame Ampofo Kusi )is the Chief Executives officer of Ghana Hostel Company Limited.

2. The Defendant ( Pearl Maame Ekua ) is the acting internal Auditor of Ghana Hostel Company.

3.The Plaintiff says, since July, 2012, the Defendant has been in concubinage relationship with him (Plaintiff) when the Defendant was a marketing officer and Plaintiff the Chief executives officer at Defunct Unisecutive Ghana Limited.

4. The Plaintiff says, the concubine relationship led to several relationships with the Defendant after they reunited in 2019 thus after the Defendant had a child with one Mr. Cyrill Addo who failed to marry the Defendant.

5. That in 2019, they found themselves working at Ghana Hostel Company were the Plaintiff is the Chief Executive Officer and the Defendant, the acting Internal Auditor of the company.

6. The Plaintiff says, their sexual relationship continued with the Plaintiff supporting the Defendant's Education and providing for the Defendant who needed financial support.

7. The Plaintiff in all these years from 2019 till somewhere in March, 2023, kept their sexual relationship highly confidential without any protest and complaint from the Defendant.

8. The Plaintiff says, all these years, the Defendant has enjoyed these sexual relationships and travelled several times with the Plaintiff.

9. The Plaintiff avers the Defendant just recently in 2023, started behaving strangely towards Plaintiff.

10. That the Defendant alleged that her spiritual father told her that the continuous concubine and sexual relationship with the Plaintiff is the cause of her failure to have a man in her life as a husband and this concubine and sexual relationship will affect the Defendants success in life.

11. The Plaintiff says, that Defendant threatened to end the relationship withoutrageous request coupled with a threat if the Plaintiff fails to honour thosedemands.

12. The Plaintiff says, the Defendant threatened to report their sexual relationship to the Board member of Ghana Hostel Company and also threatened to report the matter to the Human Resource Manageress coupled with the threat that she will engage the media to problem their relationship because of current happenings when a lady filed a suit against her boss for failing to honour his promise to her.

13. That the Plaintiffs says, he gave in to these threat and gave the ¢80,000.00 as part of compensation and made proposal for peaceful settlement to avoid any publication from the media and reporting their sexual relationship to the board.

14. That the Plaintiff says upon second thought, he engaged the legal service of a lawyer and decided not to give in to Defendants attempt at blackmailing and extorting money from him as a result of their sexual relationship and concubine relationship.

15. The Plaintiff says, the Defendant caused her solicitor to write a formal complaint full of lies and unsubstantial allegation to the Ghana Hostel Company Board.

16. That in the said letter to the Board, the Defendant falsely accused, the Plaintiff of sexual harassment, abuse and intimidation.

17. The Plaintiff responded to the said allegation and the matter is pending between the boards for determination.

18. The Plaintiff says, all the unfounded allegation by the Defendant in her letter to the to the board dated the 21st February, 2023 were all false and part of the evil scheme to tarnish the reputation of Plaintiff and to blackmail and extort money from the Plaintiff the boards for determination.

19. That the Plaintiff responded to the said complaint dated on 1 day of March, 2023 and denied all the said allegation.

20. The Plaintiff says, the Defendant has used blackmail and has extorted money to the tone of GH¢80,000.00 from Plaintiff through her previous lawyer for Defendant, demanding the sum of GH¢120,000.00 for any form of settlement.

21. The Plaintiff shall contend that the false allegations made against him by the Defendant and the demands from Defendants lawyer are grand schemes to extort money from Plaintiff.

22. That the Defendant has made another counter proposal dated 18th of March, 2023, where the Defendant is now making outrageous demands of settlement of the complaint she allegedly filed before the board of Ghana Hostels Company. The Plaintiff shall contend that this is another grand scheme to further extort money from the Plaintiff..

In all, per the latest counter proposal, the Defendant is demanding GH¢720,000.00 as follows:

a. Cash of GH¢300,000.00 inclusive of ($6,700 receipt acknowledged).

b. Cash for a vehicle valued GH¢ 175,000.00.

c. Cash of GH¢250,000.00 in lieu of the plot of land.

d. A signed undertaking of good behavior stating that the Plaintiff shall not at any point in time as long as they are workers of Ghana Hostels Limited, harass the Defendant sexually, abuse her verbally, refrain from making sexually suggestive comments and jokes, refrain from discussing Plaintiffs personal matters with Defendant, calling Defendant at unofficial hours, refrain from sitting in Defendants office and a promise by Plaintiff to act professionally towards Defendant.

23. The Plaintiff shall further contend that the sexual relationship between the Plaintiff and for more than 10years is highly confidential in law and the attempt by Defendant to use such sexual information to blackmail and extort him is a breach of confidence.

24. The Plaintiff says, the Defendant will not stop blackmailing and extorting moneyfrom the Plaintiff unless the Court intervene.

25. Wherefore, the Plaintiff claim as follows:- a. A refund of the GH¢80,000.00 given to Defendant by Plaintiff as a result of the threat to publish their sexual relationship to the media and the Board.

b. General damages for breach of confidence of their sexual relationship.

c. A declaration that the conduct of the Defendant is an act of blackmail, extortion and unlawful.

d. A perpetual order to restrain the Defendant, agent, privies, representatives from continuous blackmailing of Plaintiff with the threat of using their sexual relationship as a tool to extort money from Plaintiff.

e. Any further orders that the Court may deem fit in the circumstance of this case.

f. And any other order(s) that the Court may deem fit.
