Tammy Slaton's Weight Loss Journey After Scary Medical Incident
Fans of TLC's 1000-Lb Sisters have been following Tammy Slaton's weight loss struggles throughout multiple seasons. However, following a terrifying medical emergency, the reality star has managed to lose a significant amount of weight.
During the show's season 3 finale, Tammy's brother, Chris, revealed that she had been rushed to the hospital due to breathing difficulties just a day after entering a food addiction rehab. Tammy was placed in a medically induced coma and hooked up to a ventilator. Her sister, Amanda, expressed the family's concern and fear that they may have to make funeral arrangements.
Thankfully, Tammy woke up from her coma and was fitted with a tracheotomy to help her breathe. She spent three weeks in the hospital before returning to the rehab facility.
During her stay, Tammy made remarkable progress, as her brother revealed in an update on the show. “She’s lost 100 [pounds] — I think she told me 115 pounds in total — in 30 days,” he said. “I’m overjoyed that she’s ready to get on this train and start rolling down the tracks.”
In February 2022, Tammy shared an update on her weight loss journey with her followers via TikTok. She revealed that she was still at the Ohio rehab facility and would remain there until summer.
After months of radio silence, Tammy returned to TikTok in June 2022 to address criticism about her drinking soda and emphasized that she was consuming zero-sugar beverages instead. In September 2022, she updated her followers on TikTok, saying that she was feeling "great" despite dealing with a bacterial infection.
As Tammy continues her weight loss journey, her fans are cheering her on and leaving encouraging comments on her social media pages. However, some fans remain skeptical of her recent weight loss progress, considering the fact that she was in a coma for weeks.
