Society's standards, By I. Fendler and T. du Plessis

Why do you judge me? Is it because I cover my face with paint, or because I hide my features with attire. I do so because I am ashamed, ashamed of what you'll think of me. Am I normal? You judge my weight , but you look just like me. You say I'm ugly , but your cheeks are covered with spots . I see nothing wrong with you, but why do you hurt me so? I try to fit i n, but all you do is push me away. Society's standards cut deep like razorblades. I thought I was normal, but why do you tell me diffe

The society

A society created for order. All wars have been settled and there is peace. Only clear skies ahead for this community. But that is not how it goes. In the so called order, there is chaos. In the proclaimed peace there is conflict. Within this society there is division, And all are not united. A society should be either white or black, But there is a plethora of grey. Good and evil, mix together till they are indistinguishable. The society can never be perfect, It can never be truly clean.

Blossoms of the Savannah

Blossoms of the Savannah is an account of two sisters, Taiyo and Resian, who are not only on the verge of womanhood, but are torn between their personal ambitions and the humiliating duty to the Nasila tradition. Their relocation to their rural home heralds a cultural alienation born of their refusal to succumb to Female Genital Mutilation and early marriages. In pursuit of the delicate and elusive social-economic and cultural balance in Nasila, Ole Kaelo, the girls' father, is ensnared by a corrupt hell-bent extortionist, Oloisudori Lonkiyaa. To extricate himself, Ole Kaelo sends his daughters into a flat-spin labyrinth from which they have to struggle to wriggle out. In this narrative, the author captures the reader's imagination as he traces the girls' excruciatingly painful steps to victory.
