In memory of his beloved wife, Shah Jahan commissioned the construction of the Taj Mahal, which is now considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. The construction of the Taj Mahal took 22 years to complete and required the labor of 20,000 workers. The building is made of white marble and is adorned with intricate carvings and inlaid precious stones.

Aside from the Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan also commissioned the construction of several other buildings, including the Red Fort in Delhi and the Jama Masjid mosque in Delhi. He was a patron of the arts and literature, and his reign is considered a high point in Mughal culture and architecture.

Shah Jahan's reign ended in tragedy when he was deposed by his own son, Aurangzeb, in 1658. He was imprisoned in the Red Fort in Agra for the rest of his life and died in 1666. Despite his tragic end, Shah Jahan's legacy lives on through his stunning architectural achievements, which continue to inspire awe and wonder today.
