In the heart of Daystar University, the School of Law orchestrated a grand affair - the Young Arbiters Society's public lecture program, drawing not only Daystar students but also scholars from JKUAT and Nazarene. The clock struck 12:30 PM, and Collins Kaberia took charge, orchestrating the seamless arrival and registration of attendees, ushering them to their designated seats.
The event kicked off with a riveting moot session led by Mr. Ayub Okayo, captivating the audience for 30 minutes before a well-deserved break. As the clock struck 2 PM, the assembly settled, standing unified as the National Anthem and the Daystar University Anthem echoed through the auditorium, skillfully led by Mr. Mark. Pst. Rachael Ngugi then took the stage, guiding the room in an opening prayer that set a reverent tone for the proceedings.
Dr. Martin Oloo, the Head of Public Law, took the opportunity to provide a warm introduction, paving the way for the esteemed Dr. Maurice Owuor, Dean of the School of Law, to share insightful remarks. Prof. Faith Nguru, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of ARSA, followed suit, extending a hearty welcome to the distinguished guest of honor, Prof. Githu Muigai, SC Attorney General Emeritus.
As Prof. Muigai graced the stage, anticipation hung in the air. Young advocates leaned forward, eager to absorb his extensive knowledge in arbitration. With eloquence and depth, he navigated the complexities of dispute resolution, illustrating his points with captivating stories and case studies. His words resonated, transcending textbooks and classes, sparking renewed determination in the minds of the audience.
“The purpose of international practice around arbitration is to expedite the resolution of disputes,” Prof. Muigai emphasized, highlighting the confidentiality arbitration offers. With pride, he commended Kenya's prowess in preparing arbitration cases, asserting their legendary status.
