Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Emotions are expressed through how we feel and this can be as a result of many factors, in this chapter we will be looking at why our emotions are very important to our lives , especially in our day to day activities. Emotions can be a blessing and if not properly directed can also be a curse. This has been proven from many incidents that occur daily.let use some examples to explain, why emotions is like two side of a coin and it impacts in our lives .
It has been proven that the reasons why some children perform poorly in school can be attributed to emotional abuse. For example , if a child is always bullied by his or her teacher, class mates or parents , can cause a child to end up having poor grades . Likewise, negative name calling, such as "empty head", "good for nothing", " useless child ", " you are not good enough", "you can not amount to anything good in life" are statements , if constantly used on an individual sends strong negative signal to the mind of the individual ,especially children are the worst hit, it causes them to loose their self confidence , which can be a part of their life growing up, even as adult. Hence their academic performance is affected, this is because the mindset of the child has come in agreement with, what they hear, preventing them from using their full potential in life. Another example is a man that consistently beat up their wife in the presence of their children, in most cases, the child grows up and feels it's normal to beat a woman and carries on the bad act when they also get married.
