Psoriasis is a type of chronic autoimmune condition. In this disease, the skin cells start growing rapidly. Due to this extra buildup of cells, scales appear on the skin's surface. You can also see redness and inflammation around those scales. Usually, psoriatic scales are whitish-silver with red patches. But in a darker skin tone, these scales appear as purplish with gray scales. When the skin is very dry the patches may crack and bleed.
